I am pretty sure any decent shop would know how to install a turbo kit. Also it took you 2 days to install it, thats a long time. You must have had problems.

well If you have read around the forum you would see that people are having problems. It took me 2 days cause I only had 5 hours a day to work on it. We also changed my clutch and flywheel at the same time. Also lots of shops are having problems installing this kit for some reason. If you don't have the kit you would not understand. the instuctions that came with the kit suck.

flowerpowerlove is having installation issues that we need to get straightened out with TSI. We've sold a few of the D17 kits and from the feedback we've received, the kit is all but bolt-on.
The good news is once they started driving the car with the kit installed they were more than satisfied with it's performance

I got my kit from Turbo Discoulnters. The instrutions did suck.
The intercooler was the biggest challenge. The Kit for the most part is direct bolt on. I have to shave a little off the manifold and tap the oil pan but honestly thats to be expected. Here is a pic to help you guys out with the IC

The part I love about this kit the most is the extra injectors. the fuel adjustment range is great. pluss with a new fuel pump you can run as much boost as you want. I run 13psi at the track with no problems. The only thing is learning how to set the cmoputer. I can provide settings for anyone that wants then and you can use those as a base setting cause the ones that come with the instructions really suck. They are way off.

yes that is the standard fuel setup. here is a fuel setting to get you all started.
Set up the fuel comp like this
for daily
max rpm 8500
1psi-1.0ms
2psi-1.6ms
3psi-2.2ms
and so on up .6 everypsi
acyc-03 t-1.6
adjust rate 65%
all rpm settings to 0.0ms
track
take every psi down .4ms
take the rpm starting at 3500rpm-0.6ms
4000-1.0ms
and so on up .4ms every rpm
acyc-06 t-3.3ms
adjust rate 55%
that should get you started and you can make corrections from that as you see fit. Those are the settings I used to run 13.6 at 12psi but make sure for the track settings you use 97octane or better and run cold plugs. I use IK22's for daily and IK24's for the track

I got an e-mail back from TSI, they said that Extreme Kit can have either fuel managment system: either Option 1 or Option 2 for the same price of $2899 - which I find expensive. I will contact other vendors to see what the offer.
Guys can you please check at www.turbo-kits.com and recomend what I should choose: Fuel Option 1 or 2?
I think #1 is better.

go with #1 cause even if you try to max out your stock injectors you will not have the flexability that comes with #1. also putting that much strain on your stock injectors will cause them to break. Also later on down the road you could always go and buy a vafc2 and then you would have both. and upgrade your injectors when you see fit. I would Def go with number 1 nno question in my mind. also turbo timer, boost gauge, and fuel comp all come in one little control screen.
so I see you upgraded the clutch. How do you think the stock tranny is going to hold up on boost over time? And can you push your psi above 12psi without problems?
I've never really read much in the boosted forum about turbos. Anyone know of people blowing their engines, or tranny from too much boost? And do you know how much it took on our 7th gens? From some people, I hear .... ooooh the d17 is so weak, you can't boost it much. Go buy a 6th gen if you want to boost, or go put the RSX engine in.
Anyone know for sure who's blown engines - etc in ours, and what the limits are on the stock tranny? Obviously I'm sure any boosting is putting strain on the car. The question is how long will it hold?

oh and another thing. I might as well ask. Did you rip off the cat? Obviously there is a way to keep a cat on the car, because there are stock turbo cars on the market. So obviously there is a way to install a turbo and still have a cat. The last 3 places that I've lived have had emissions testing every year or every other year. It has to pass emissions and have a cat on for testing. And no I wouldn't want to have one put on and taken off after every test.
Any suggestions? This is really the main thing keeping me from having one. Everyone seems to tell me that you can't have a turbo and run a cat. They say it's pointless.
true?

first I took the down pipe that came with the turbo kit and had it cut and a cat installed in to it. Second. I did blow my head gasket at 14psi. No tranny problem so far and I have been brutal to it at the track and on the street. I changed my headgasket with a thicker one and haven't had any problems since. I gutted my cat though once I reg'ed in WI. just took it off and pulled out all the stuff inside. Once I get around to it I am getting a new down pipe made with a flex pipe in the middle.
but do you know anyone... on ANY turbo, that has blown the tranny? Is there an upgrade available for us? Obviously there is a clutch upgrade.... you are using one. If I was going to boost.... "i want to boost" if you know what I mean. I would upgrade it all at once and push it much higher than 12psi. I just don't know anyone that's done it, or how far anyone has gone.

read around, there are plenty of people that have blown trannys and some that have not, some with blown motors and some that are not.... Just search around and you should find them.....

most ive heard is like 13-14 psi. ive read just about ALL of the turbo theads on the site and that is about the highest i can recollect. maybe that are some dark knights out there with built engines but on stock goodies 13-14 is about max. guns was running 13-14, crewchief of course is at 13, catalyst is 13, maybe more now that i think, he claimed to have a dyno over 300whp! that is more than 13 psi.
just read...
just read...
