Oversized Rod Bearings?

Oversized Rod Bearings?
Hey guys,
Im in the process of building my block thanks to a spun rod bearing, for those of you that have rebuilt your block with pistons, rods the whole 9, what did you do for your rod bearings? My builder is reluctant to rebuild because he thinks the bearings on the d17 are bunk, he says that they if they cant handle a 50 shot, odd are they will give out with 200+whp. So im here to ask anyone if they are using oversized rod bearings, or are you using oem ones? please help!

For those that dont know 1 spun rod bearing requires a complete rebuild which can cost upward of 700$ and thats if your lucky and didnt ruin your crank, sure you could drop the oil pan and replace it, but thats only a band-aid. Id really hate to completly build this and have another rod bearing give out on me!

No kidding... sounds like it's time for a new motor. There's a junkyard in the northeast that I got my spare motor from, it was $350 shipped and I think they have a few more in stock. Let me know if you want the info and I'll dig it out of my files.
Also.. the rod bearings will hold up to more than 200whp easily. Mine have held up to 235whp on quite a few occasions. You might have knocked or had an oil flow problem that caused the rod bearing to fail, a 50 shot will not kill bearings.

d17a1 WAS replaced with a a2, however the d17a1 is still a good engine and is going to be built, 700-800$ is a great price to rebuild an engine with all new bearings, new pistons, rods, ect. I have found pistons, rods, but i have yet to come across any bearings other than oem. I really want to replace them after the builder showed me 4 built honda engines with spun rod bearings sitting there helplessly.
I know they are availible for the d16, but im not sure if we can use d16 bearings.

ACL main/rod bearings for a D16 should work, as the D17 crank fits in the D16 block.
Not a direct fit, does requires some modifications.
