Update: Oil Problem Fixed .... SF Turbo was Faulty
I did everything Mike (SF) asked me to do but the problem is still there.
First I relocated the drain point in the oil pan to make it as high as possible. Then I even got the oil restrictor and put it in. Then I waited for almost a week so that the remaining oil would burn off. But the problem still lies there.
The car is not just smoking like crazy but there is oil dripping from the exhaust side of the turbo as well. Today I got the car lifted and saw it all myself. There is oil everywhere on the under side of the engine. My mechanic is asured that the turbo is faulty. I didnt pay $4000 for all this. I havent even had a single race and this is happening to me.
Now what are my opitons? I have already mailed SF for a replacement but other than that what else can I do. Are there any repairing kits available for this kinda problems?
Also, if I want to get something better than the T3 super60, are there any bolt on replacements?
Please let me what you guys think of all this......

Did you make sure that your oil feed and oil return line fittings were tight and sealed? The fitting could be leaking all over everything and making it look like things are leaking that realy arent. I know I forgot to tighten my return line out of the turbo and i ran the car for like 5 mins and I had oil everywhere. Tightened the fittings and cleaned the car up now its in great shape.
hey man...I installed my kit but with help from a Certified GM Mechanic with 12 yrs experience. that person also owns a 300hp WRX, 600 hp Monte Carlo, 600 hp Pro Street Drag S-10 pickup, Lifted Z-71 w/ 350, Subaru 2.5 rs (wifes). We have had no problems except for fuel issues and Mike has helped me out promptly.Dont be so quick to point the finger and blow the whistle at others...it could be a mistake you made and have been overlooking.

Listen guys lets keep this thread to the point.
Titleist71 I got the installation done at a proper garage and by a very proffessional mechanic. There are no loose connections as everything has been checked and rechecked all over again. All evidence points out to the turbo and therefore to SF.
Now if SF decides to 'disappear on me' what are my options???

Any turbo can be rebuilt. I'm not sure what shops there are in your neck of the woods that can do it, but typically any diesel truck place can rebuild any turbo. Usual cost for a total rebuild, rebalance, etc here in Oklahoma is about $200 including parts.

why not, I put 10w40 Mobil 1 right away before I even started the car. Did you make sure to unhook your plugs and crank the motor to prime the turbo bearings and seals or did you just start it up with out and oil flowing through the entire feed/return line and turbo assembly?

there have been others that have had this problem with their SF turbo...i was one of them...and yes, i did put oil in my turbo before is started my car, and i even made sure that the every thing was tight on the turbo...i had this same problem...i even used a heavier oil, and it did turn out that it was the seals....but it wasnt a bad enough leak to bother me....just a little drop every couple of days.....didnt even cause my car to smoke....so there is a possibility that it is the turbo.....
I was never doubting that it was....just trying to narrow it down. My turbo leaked from the exhaust housing for a day, I noticed it, cleaned it to check it and it has stopped. May not have even been the turbo who knows. If there is a problem I am sure SF will help him out, the turbo is brand new.

i had the same problem! the damige is done you need a new cartrige or a new turbo so $300 or more sorry bro but thats what it is going to take. what you should do is drill the return in the block and you will never have a problem.

Do you guys think that this T3 rebuild kit would do any good?

Not sure if you bought a new or used turbo...but I'm going to assume it's new
Like above, don't assume your turbocharger is shot until you check everythign first
1. Have you actually taken your downpipe off the turbine to see if oil is literally coming out of there?
2. Are you sure that your oil drain flange isn't leaking oil on that side, causing it to 'appear' to be blown seals??
3. Are you sure your feedline doesn't leak on the turbo as well? Mine did at first and it took me a lil to narrow down my prob as well
In all reality, if it's a new turbo, I doubt you've blown the seals out already...even if you are runnign something bigger than lets say a -4AN line, it shouldn't blow withen the first few days/weeks...even if you have 80psi at cold idle it shouldn't do this (however it could if the turbo was shot before the purcahse and never rebuilt)

My friend had the exact same problem with the T67 on his mustang.
The shop he took it to suggested one of 2 things
1) The turbo was faulty, mainly due to the fact that alot of turbo kit companies use refurbished (rebuilt) turbos.
2) The oil pressure from the feed line was too great, this caused oil to leak out past the seal, into the turbo itself causing a white smoke, and oil around the turbo.
They suggested that we double check the feed line to make sure it has the right fitting.
I know theres a difference between a boosted civic and a boosted mustang gt, but maybe that info would help.

Ok guys, thanks for all the opinions but I got the problem solved today (and I hope it stays that way).
Long story short, I took the turbo to the turbo expert guy/shop. He took 3-4 days and fixed it. I got it back on the car just a few hours back. Drove around, boosted a little and took it to the garage. Got it checked for leaks and smoke and it was all clear
Reasons I found out were:
1) The turbo looked new from the outside but it was a rebuild unit
2) The so called rebuilder had done a very messy job
3) One piece of pipe behind the shaft was 'rusted' and wasnt in a proper circular shape
4) It got regrinded, seals/rings got replaced, and some other technical things I dont remember ......
The turbo guy told me that I got ripped off by whoever sold me this junk considering it came with a brand new kit. So much for SF's top quality.
I hope anyone else doesnt make the mistake of buying from them ever again!

Looks like someone is selling rebuilt turbos with brand new shiney compressor housings
Same thing happend to me. The only thing that could be used on the turbo I got from Stafford was the compressor and exhaust housings.
