Overboost Protection....
I was just reading the book Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, and he suggests this as an overboost protection device
could this really help???

umm, let me see. You are running WOT, and the boost goes up to the amount of the switch. Then, the switch engages and cuts your fuel pressure off completely. Causing a severe lean condition, and your pistons melt to the side of the block, the rods go through the side, and the bearings spin in complete fun.
Yeah, this would work great! Not to mention that these switches are not completely accurate.
A blow off valve only purges excessive air from the system, not fuel. So the system only gets rich and bogs a bit. No fun engine damage.
You don't always get what you pay for, but you always eventually pay.

It just makes sense. Once again, your gonna spend $3-4000 and not spend another $350 for a good EBC?
Remember you get what you put into it.

I didn't like the little LCD screen and the capability of being able control boost from it. I felt safer with just the seperate units.

not everyone is a dealer and gets parts at cost.
I spent alot and i hit a wall. I can't afford anymore parts right now. I need a clutch and i just simply can't afford it
I was using ohmysac's MBC.......it worked great, but i lost the ball inside of it. So, now i am just using the wastegate actuator rod to control my boost.

Fuel cut on a Civic... do we want to analyze how many things are wrong with that picture? Ka-boom!
Not much is wrong with ignition cut, until you have all your fuel exploding in your exhaust housing of the turbo, or the nearest exhaust leak. Not to mention what the ECU will do to compensate for the total lack of spark. But this is still a much better solution than fuel cut, and a good idea. Most aftermarket ECM's include boost-dependent ignition cut, does the E-Manage?
EBC's are not required, and most EBC's are no more accurate against overboost than a manual boost controller. Besides... if you're overboosting with an EBC, something has already failed, and that means the EBC is going to be able to do jack squat to stop the overboost situation except sound a buzzer. A warning light hooked up to a boost switch or a boost gauge with warning capability is better.
