beginning of full race motor...

Ok guys, after beating the hell out of my engine for almost a year now (being boosted) I think it's time for the next step.

I still plan on saving my money, therefore my over-the-winter body over haul is being cancelled.

I am bascially looking to have a daily driven 15psi setup.

For internals I am thinking about this...

Turbo Specialties Pistons, 8.5:1 ratio, $375
Crower forged rods, $600
KMS Head gasket, $110?
KMS Block gaurd, $75
ARP Studs, $90

Now is there any place yet that legitimately offers sleeving for our motors? I'm damn tired right now and really can't recall any specific companies doing it.

Also, I was strongly considering a turbo cam, but as far as I know, regrinds are the only options.

Feel free to chime in on this quest for boost, You think 15psi calls for the new axels too? I am buyig an old civic in about 3-4 weeks from now and will start my project right after that.

BTW - I do know that if I sleeve the bock I don't need the block gaurd, I'm just throwing that as a possibility, trying to keep it all cost effective.

As of right now that stuff totals to like $1250. To me, spending just over a grand to safely run low 13s with a daily driven car is worth it...

hm.. looks like good prices. is sleeving necessary when you're just going with 15psi? or are there more future plans up your sleeve

well... i figure 15psi is safe, and sleeving would keep me from worrying about the motor.

But, who has EVER run more than 15psi on a D17? I just want to take my time and figure things out piece by piece instead of destroying a $2k motor. Will the RSX-S injectors handle boost beyond that? If not, what is out there that I can do? Or should I expect to be sauldering some new wire to some RC 440cc injectors lol

man SERIOUSLY...U seem to have DEEP pockets....y not just do a SWAP and do all of this and run 11's and/or 12's instead of just 13's....13's is fast though dont be me wrong but just saying...I know after a couple more mods here and there to my turbo setup, I WONT BE PUTTING ANOTHER DIME INTO THIS MOTOR unless its repairs and oil....my next project is K20 and boost

well for starters me right here has hit above 15 psi, if your going to take the time to put in pistons and rods, dont waste ur time on a blockguard. ERL Performance...they are in INDIANA, that is where my shop gets SLEEVES done. ive talked to the rep, they can do our engines, sleeves arent hard to get, i could have gotten them since day one, dont know why the FFFFF i didnt.

if you look at the peak boost on the top left corner.....ull see 1.05

Titleist71 can only hope to improve
Madwheel you may want to build up your head too. Valves, valve guides, springs, retainers.....etc....don't know how long the stock head components will take the abuse.

For the comment about the exospeed, I emailed them to see how much everything would cost. I also asked them about a turbo cam too, because we desperately need them.

Glad to see another civic has hit over 15psi. What have you run at the track with that kind of power?

i think that with some good drag radials and some gutted interior we would be able to hit high 12's

Exospeed uses RS Machines

I also heard great things about Benson sleeves.

No need for the blockguard.

As far as building up the head...........our motors don't rev that high to taken a beating on the head.

And on a side note............WTF do u do for a living. Jesus ****, i work 50+ hrs a wk and make quite a bit..........and i can't afford all of this ****.

Joe, you really don't need any head work, maybe a small cleanup and small exhaust work, but that might even be overkill.... Turbo cam will wake the motor up with that level of boost... ARP bolts throughout (rods, caps, heads, etc etc).... What EMS will you be running? e-manage? You might want to iron out all the bugs on that one first.... Or find a shop that can get it to work the way it should.... Rest of the drivetrain?

Like C2i0v0i1c and a few others have shown, it can be done if you find the right person to tune everything.... Keep a look around at the dragstrip for those guys that are running impressive numbers consistently and who did the work on the cars.... Those are the motor builders you need around... If I need work done on my Mustang, I know of the top three guys in the northeast to bring my car to if I want it done right... It'll cost ya, but it will be well worth it in the long run (ex. C2i0v0i1c's car)....

Good luck man

Thanks for the input guys...

To answer some q's for ya havok, I have the Greddy emanage right now, and it's working great. I also have the ignition, injector and pressure harnesses for it. Most installed, the rest sitting in my garage.

I don't have too many plans for the head or TB, just a turbo cam and a STRONG bottom end. When you say small exhaust work what do you suggest? Currently I have an equal length manifold, huge exhaust turbine, 3" cat back, and a soon to be installed 3" downpipe.

Refer to this thread... Car's being taken off the road for good next week and it'll be a full track car...CLICK ME
