T28 Numbers?
T28 Numbers?
Ok I am stuck as a step in my set up. If there are any boosted memebers out there with a T28 set up, what kind of numbers are you putting down? im not sure if i should go t28 or T3 manifold and turbo
i have a gt28r that came with the edelbrock kit on my 99 ex. it says its good for around 300 crank hp. i put down 204 hp at about 8 psi. i say if your not going to build up your engine to much then go with a t28, spools quick.

yeh
IHI and t28 ,mistsu stock turbo spool quick
probably not all that great it your a commuter
depends on what you wanna do
beat people at the track and stoplights
or pull on them on the highway and see who the craziest
(usually i win that comp but i've slowed down lately)

nope no building neccessary. just normal turbo set up. and a manifold that has a t25 flange. im just curious what the output would be on our d17's at about a decent 8psi?
i also want to be able to reach 300whp after my engine build without loosing effeciency. would this be a good turbo match for the goal i have or would a t3 super 60 be better suited?

you could blow you engine for a ton of reasons but the turbo and manifold size don;t have anything to do with it. if you have a decent fuel system for the set up then you could run it at about 8psi (some people have done 10 on aclh. injection) on stock internals. anything higher with out internals and you risk blowing the head gasket, detonation, throwing a rod bent valve....ect

i'de say go the route im going. take your time and piece together your kit with quality parts. you can always find a nice price if you seach hard enough, just don;t buy cheap parts or else thats how your performance is gonna be. get the basics first see how your car handels the boost at maybe 5psi and take it from there some people have trouble running 5psi and some have no problems running 8psi. just make sure you get your setup dyno tuned.then from there see how it feels and what your output goal is then see how far you wanna take it on the internals.
oh yeah black 2k2 i live right off 595 and 136th just 2 min from sawgrass mall. maybe we can meet up sometime so i can see how your setup is runnin. i wanna get a feel for what im getting myself into cause it looks like a gt28r garrett turbo is like 700 bucks easy. i wanna make sure. what do ya say? so any conclusions yet? Is a t28 turbo going to put out nice numbers or just quick spooling time? I guess the ratios would also affect it, but generally speaking what kind of power do they put out?
I dynoed my car again yesterday (T28) at 6psi completely tuned and with my custom 64mm TB,and at 8 psi heres the numbers..
6psi 169whp and 159lb ft (increase 3hp and 7lb ft)
8psi 188whp and 170lb ft
I was happy with my numbers, as you can see i have it set up for more torque(hit peak torque at 4600rpm). In 2 months im going to dyno again at 10psi and 12psi after i get pistons, rods, etc. and my alcohol injection workin 100%

^those are some pretty nice numbers! What are the AR. ratios for you're turbo? I think i asked this already! If i could be around that range I would be extremely happy. Now all we need is a t25 owner to post up so we can compare the two.
Cant wait for the 10 and 12 psi numbers! Did you have alcohol injection for those two runs?

my compressor is .53 a/r and .47 a/r turbine. I used 50/50 methanol and water injection on both runs just to be safe...usually when i drive at 6psi i dont use it but im also not under full throttle all the time. Hopefully things will go as planned by sept and i'll be running another dyno(with video). I will also dyno with my friends RSX type s w/ hondata i/h/e and see if i can destroy his numbers.
^thats sweet. The turbo im looking at has a .64 turbine A/R and .60 Compressor A/R, but it is very very expensive. Around 1000 CAD. Its a BB turbo tho which is nice, but could be considered overkill for our cars I think. Its just hard finding a good deal on t28's, so im probably going to get a new one. Thanks for posting up you're numbers tho! Its helpfull to determine what I want to get!
no problem, yea the ball bearing gt28s rock. I'll probably step up to that next or a super 60 T3. But i think its worth it if you're going the custom route, its not that commonly used like the t25, t3, and t3/t4 and i think its perfect for a civics power output.
Skater:yah the t28 seems to be around the size i want to get.
Boosta:Yeah I have a shop locally that can get me the gt28. Is that the same one you want to get? I think it would be very nice size for our cars with the a/r ratios. Not too big, not too small.
