Lx to Si?

Is it possible to change the head on a 2003 lx civic to si head? I seen other non-vtec motors doing head swaps to get vtec
For example my friends has ls vtec on his intregra and its very fast!

So no. you can't just swap the head, 2 different series engines. The Integra LS used a B-Series block and a non-VTEC B-Series head. You can swap a D17A2 head onto your D17A3 block, but on a SOHC motor, it's not worth the effort.

both civics are using the same block so if you want VTEC
you'll need the vtec head, controller & ecu

I'm not shure what else you need

my research is on putting in a k24 (accord) block
with a k20 (rsx type s) head

2001 LX to K20 Si

Will i need to get the sub frame? and also the gearing is that a problem?
and will this be easier than doing the type s or type r swap?

Well, base off of what spider said, if you are going from a d17a1 to a d17a2, you can simply do a headswap. Just find a new head and ecu. You can run the vtec wire on the ecu to the vtec solenoid and you're good. Not a difficult thing to do at all.

an ecu could run you up to $500 - $600 Can
try going to the junkyard and and check to see if there's a civic si
prices for an ecu should be cheaper

In my opinion 700 to 800 bucks insn't worth it when you can pick up a K24 for like 750-1500

maybe not

You might not get all the way to 127hp because the exhaust manifold on the EX/ Can Si is different from the LX manifold. Am I correct here? Are there any other differences in the cars that anyone is aware of that would detract from the 127hp figure?

Is the conversion really this simple? A head and an ECU? You could probably get something for the old head and ECU so it may be be that expensive.
