DEI Cryogenic Air Intake
DEI Cryogenic Air Intake
has any one used this product or know any thing about it. im ordering a turbo and im trying to get all the other stuff needed in order. i was looking at the nx n-tercooler kit when i came across the dei air intake thing (cools the air being sucked in).
i was reading up on some sites and they said 8 some said 10 hp gain with this product. here is a link it says wrx but i think its universal since other places sell it for all cars http://www.jscspeed.com/wrx/cooling/dei_cry02.htm

O2 is very volatile...that is the only problem i see with it, but hey, its your money, you decide....i mean i am sure it will lower the intake temperature, but why not just get Nitrous?
i dont want to run nitros with a turbo. i just want to cool the air going into the turbo. i also just talked to my uncle on this and he said it could cause problems with cracking and stuff so not sure what im going to do.

That sounds like a bad idea, and you'll have to buy replacement canisters all the time. Volant already has an intake out that completely isolates the intake charge from the engine bay heat. I bet if you put ice at the bottom of the filter box, it would cool the air even more.
I would like to see actual numbers on intake air temp reduction for specific mass airflows and the pressure drop across the device which looks to restrict airflow in your intake. But, dropping your intake air temp is a proven way to ad HP reduce the chance of detonation and adding a turbo is a proven way to heat up your inlet air temp. Personally, I would look to the intercooler sprayer myself. You are going to need an intercooler for your turbo and this would be an "on demand" way to get the lower intake temps.
just my $0.02
just my $0.02
Check this page out, it has alot of Q&A on the system.

BTW, you dont have to buy replacement cannisters, you have to refill the bottle, just like nitrous only cheaper. Also, O2 is very volatle but CO2 is not and thats what this system uses.
I'm seriously considering the intercooler sprayer on a air/air intercooler instead of the liquid/air intercooler I had already selected.

There are a few members that have this already - it works. Its not O2, it CO2 - not even close. As Mirage has said, CO2 creates a dramatic cooling effect to the intercooler, giving you a quick boost - like N20....
