question about custom turbo setups
what did you pay for your custom turbo setup?
im lookin for a basic setup that will get me at 200 hp and able to run the 1/4 mile @ 100 mph or more. how much boost would i need to run for a setup like this and how much do you think it would cost around? a local shop tole me it would be $2500-3500 for them to get me all the parts and install them and that would get me around 200 hp, but do you think this is enough to hit the 100 mph mark in the 1/4 mile and how much boost would i need to br running? thanks for the help.

Depends if you want to skimp on quality or not. I bought all quality parts, and am going the extra mile with my setup. So far its costed about $4500....not including any "installation" or tuning charges. Everything I've done, I've done myself....

I'm workin on getting the bulk of my parts very soon. I'm just deciding where I want to get the work done.
I can do it in town here and have them figure it out.
or
I can go to Toronto (3.5 hour drive) and leave the car for a few days with the guys that have had this in the 7thgen already.
We'll see.

what do you think about a custom exhaust manifold as opposed to one already out there? the guys at the shop said the car would be alot better if they made the manifold as opposed to buying one of the ones already out.
here was mine...
HKS manifold $150
Garrett GT17 turbo $150 used
custom IC piping from aluminized steel U bends $70
Donuts for Downpipe $25
02 bungholes $9.99 for 2
Silicon couplings $120 for adaptors and straights
HKS SSQV bov $200
HKS bov weld on fittin $35
Custom johnnyracecar intercooler $240
TurboXS dual-stage boost controller $150
SF fuel Kit $550
random vaccum lines, bolts, etc. about $40
unfortionately mine didnt go through...but i was hoping to run near 200whp with tuning

Iknow the thread said custom. But at 10psi I put down 220hp with my used SF kit. Cost me $2500. I did the install myself and a local shop charged me $60 to do some tunning to get me running.
Good luck.
Good luck.

The alch/injector kit is a pressure switch, windshield washer sprayer and a dry nos jet. $50 and this is good for at least 20-30hp under high boost w/ methanol.
Good luck on your custom kit.
i was goin with the SF kit b/c it was the easy way out...unfortioantely i wasnt able to get my turbo stuff running not to install or product problems but family issues...so my stuffs for sell if anyones interested

i think it'll work very well. Those are all really good choices to go with...basically if you have the cash flow you can go in any direction you want with your turbo, but for a custom set up, yours gets 2 thumbs up

in my experience it sounds good, but u can prob wait if need b (cuz money's always an issue) on injectors. im runnin like 8lbs and not going lean. dont forget all the lil things like silicone couplers fittings and intake manifold (explodes @ 5lbs).
you might wanna think about a smaller turbo to spool faster. i have a lil trouble with my t3/t4

the HKS is a loud fast "PSHHH" and definately loud and noticeable
the blitz is a low "SWWOOSSH" my friend has the blitz BOV on his supra and its a good moderate sound
Get the HKS, i've heard and had no problems with it since and its a pull type relief BOV, where as many including the blitz is a push valve, and the best thing about that is it wont leak from boost at all or any vaccum pressure, or so they say
