What would you use it for? Wrapping headers or exhaust is a VERY bad idea. The temps of the metal will get near molten. And if something were to spill on them and catch fire, you couldn't put it out since it's soaked into the material. Don't get it, unless you're planning on insulating the inside of your door panels or something.

Trapping heat usually isn't a good idea under the hood.

This is an example of why new members shouldn't trust a guy with a high post count. First of all. Let me qualify myself to disprove this statement. I'm a heliarc(tig) welder for a shop that builds custom headers and does thermal resistant coatings. Nearly ALL of our race cars have wrapped headers and exhaust systems. Normally accompanied with a coating, but some without. Thermal wrappings help maintain exhaust temperature inside the pipe, because as the exhaust gas cools it loses velocity and loses its flow rate. Thermal wraps also reduce low rpm gas reversion, which is the exhaust gas traveling back up the pipe, and in return costing some velocity. Oh and...the metal will never get near molten.

Your right! Instead of trapping that heat...just let it be free to go near your intake. Just let your motor suck up all the heated air it wants. I highly suggest you not give any advice about cars, unless its how to wire up some dashlights.

No need to be rude. I was just stating what I've read on numerous websites and what three honda techs with 25+ years experience have told me.

I wouldn't feel the need to be rude if your statement was slightly off. But I mean, what you stated was just unfounded bullsh*t.

It wouldn't be worth the price on a N/A super efficient honda civic. A turbo civic maybe, simply because turbos act like big heatsinks.
