Although the DX/LX have a lower compression ratio, the EX's VTEC allow it to run a little more boost stock.

There are members boosting at all kinds of levels, some LXs have been boosting at 11 psi, while others dont want to go above 8.

a. you cant hear vtec very well in our cars, and b. I think just about everyone running 11 psi on stock internals has blown a headgasket.

Moving to F/I since this is a boost question.

I have an LX. Ran 10psi once, no problems. No blown headgasket. I normally ran 8psi or 5psi depending on my mood.

Use whatever trim you want. The LX/DX and EX both have their upsides and downsides basically making them equal. LX/DX has lower compression. EX has a more aggressive timing curve. The EX has VTEC, but sometimes, VTEC can cause boost spikes, but I don't know if anybody has problems with that on the D17.

Either way... it's a toss up. The limits basically end up the same.
