noob question regarding spool-up time
I know that the turbo starts spooling at around 2500 rpms? and full boost at around 3500? I'm assuming this is in first gear, lets say you redline and shift to second, will you start the gear at full boost or does it still require 1000rpm spoolup time
Also, lets say your driving at a steady speed, then press the gas, will you get full boost or will it have to spool up?

If you're driving at a steady speed, and you punch it all of a sudden.....your turbo will need time to spool up. But, how quickly it does this depends on the size of the turbo.
If you're attempting to participate in a rolling race......naahhhh.....i'll just keep this one to myself.

You should mention what kind of turbo you're referring to...
If you mean the SF setup T3 Garrett...
-In first gear you can floor it but you'll peel out before you make peak boost if it's set correctly.
If you're at 5000rpms with 0psi then floor it, lag will be almost non-existant, and spool up will be less than a second.
You can actually spool a T3 below 2000rpms (I used to) which is good for steady acceleration onto the highway.
My new turbo (T04B, clipped) needs some time, but at about 4000rpms it flys like a bat out of hell... All depends on what kind of driving you like.
For mid-range power and ocassional track use, A T25BB or ported T28 would be nice. A T3 super60 is great for track use with a lot of highway driving.
