Here is a pic of the underside too-
I am hoping to get the head put on in the next couple of weeks, I good friend at Honda does work on the side and is putting the head and clutch in for $100. I did get a price for install at Honda (go there b/c our friend is the service mgr and the mechanics actually know about Hondas) and w/ a discout of I think 10% it was #350 for the head install.
I will let you know ASAP on when it goes on, after that I can take pics of the stock one, this head is an extra one so the other one is still on my car.

Let's see, turn over was 2 weeks exactly I am almost positive...
anyways, quick turnover- I can see it would suck if you have to send it out and have to have your car out of commission....

ok, here's the thing I've been talking about. When I talked to the shop that does all the installs around here they said that it would be around $700! They said they need to empty the engine of all liquids, new gaskets, and all that goos stuff, then they said it would take 12-13 hours. Does this sound right to you? I was expecting to pay mostly around $300 max. Someone help me!

Man, and I thought the place I took it to was a rip. They said 8 hours max for the head swap at $40 an hour. For the head AND pulley, it would be $400 total. But hey, someone I met in Chicago offered to help me out for half that.
What fluids? Isn't there only oil in the engine? Gaskets are news to me as well.

First e-mail i sent:
Ok well, about mid next month I will be recieving a PnP head from
DH-racing. It's for my 02 civic coupe. Basically just wondering about how long and
about how much this will run me. You guys were recommended to me from people on Tamparacing.com so I figured I would give you a try.
-Derek
The reply:
We can do it, but it is a big job. Would be $700 + parts (gasket kit -
head, intake manifold, etc, fluids, belts). Your head may come with the
gasket kit.
I could get you in March 29th -31st. Let me know.

2nd E-mail:
I guess maybe I should have been more specific. Suposively it's supposed to just be a direct swap, no changing out of anything except for the "head". Here is the site where I am getting the new PnP head from http://dh-racing.com/ I don't know if u understood me in the first place or not, if you did then coo, I just don't understand the need for all the time and parts. Lemme know.

Reply:
Anytime you remove the head or intake manifold you need new gaskets.
Obvoiusly all fluids are drained from the motor.
As far as the labor, I am estimating 12-13 hrs ($700), because of the time

That's complete crap. The people I talked to were not really in business for this stuff, but the guys there knew what they were doing. They even showed me the engine they were working on. I think they may be overcharging, but it's still cheaper than what you found.
It is a big job, but not nearly as bad as they say. And they mention fluid and gaskets, but those hardly take any time to install.

It is like $40 at the most for a gasket I know that so it is a rip. I know some people are hesitant to ask their Honda dealer about it but if you have not by now, try it. We have a great one here, the guy that does my work has a CRX w/ a B20 in it so he appreciates the finer things
It cost LESS THAN $700 for a supercharger to be put on a car- they are trying to take you.
Yeah nice polar bears huh? Those are my husbands just so you don't think that those are my manly hands holding the head up in the picture
