if you had $1k....

how would you spend it? i'm looking to build up the motor for boost and have a little over $1k to spend on it but i'm wondering what i should start with? what is our engines weakest link.....like what would be the first thing to break under boost. at first i was thinking pistons and rods but it seems they can handle 10psi on a daily basis so i'm thinking perhaps sleeve the block or maybe a PnP head. i need some opinions, so let me know what you guys think! what would you buy and why?

boost is addicting....yes our blocks, piston, and rods can handle 10psi but isnt recommended all the time.....under normal drivin how much would you actually hit 10psi....what i am going to do with my money, is build the block to handle more boost.....well dhracing is doing that....but yeah...start out with the simple stuff so that you dont have down time like pnp head from dh, crank pulley, CLUTCH, flywheel... stuff that you can bolt on and dont have to have a couple days down time, like you would with pistons and rods, rings and the others....it you can get by with the down time i would go with the pistons and rods, blockgaurd and sleeves first though..... that will let you boost more, providin you can get the fuel correct....

i'd buy a clutch, convert my fuel system to return, a greddy emanage, and several hours of professional tuning.

save more, u cant build the block pistons rods sleeves for 1k, unless u install it yourself and have friends in the business that can get things for wholesale

converting to a return, is doable under1k, but why

you can get the block sleeved for about $700. But then theres the labor for removing the engine, and then putting it back in. i would say buy an extra motor so you can build it up in the future without having a lot of downtime on your car.

save your money steve......the best thing to do is to sleeve the block, but if u do that u might as well build the whole bottom end. If you wanna spend $1k, i say build up ur tranny.

already bought a TCI overhaul kit, just need a donor torque converter to send to level ten.
as for buying a whole new engine, that isnt really a option, i live in an apartment and dont have a place to keep it. so i'm gonna buy all this internal stuff and take some time off work and have it all installed at once.

just leave the engine block in your apartment =) like on a free desk, or the next to you in the bed, an empty sink, or if you really have to, on the ground. ooorrr you could get creative and build some kinda stand to hold it. unless they sell those. or maybe you could even drill holes in your ceiling and hang the engine. idk just some suggestions. i'm a bit buzzed.

If I had $1,000 Id put it back in my bank account. My DH Head/custom intake manifold/Cam/TB cost me all the money I had....Not to mention the custom turbo manifold from SF......oh well all worth it to have one of the fastest 7th gens around.
