HP Performance
HP Performance
I've been reasearching turbo kits for my girlfriend's 2002 EX. I came across a company that I have personal experience who now make kits for the Honda Civic. HP Performance got its start with turbo kits for Mustangs. My personal experience with this company is relatively good. I helped install a Stage I kit on a 1991 Mustang LX a few years ago. On a stock motor with nothing more than some bigger injectors and upgraded ignition...the car dynoed at 478 horsepower with 500 lb/ft of torque. The parts were high quaility, and customer service was great. The only issue was a few missing parts (seems common to a lot of good kits). The company now offers a turbo kit for the 1.7L Civic. The website has a image of the kit as it comes, and intalled...along with two dyno sheets. The kit seems very tought out. Has anybody seen this kit yet? Is the Alcohol Injection System a viable alternative to an actual fuel management system? And lastly, will the manifold included stand up to the heat produced in a turbocharged car?

im not sure about alot of things on it except i know it can only do 5 psi and i know that with Alcohol Injection the sf kit can handle 11 psi on stock enternals and they are about the same price. and from what i hear sf i really good. i am planing on getting one of there kits the day i pay my car off.
hey man just to set the record straight the kit is able to go higher than 5 psi, i am running on 8 psi right now with the same kit. the article that everybody got that from misunderstood the company. they told the mag. that we have only dynoed the kit at 5psi. so i guess the guy figured that's the highest amount of boost that it can run. but to set it straight you can run more than just 5 psi.
oww really so what are your times at the track if youve been cause i thought those numbers were real good for just 5 psi and to me that was the only draw back on the kit was the 5 psi limit. so thats cool. i think that the d17 is just real good for turbo or somthing cause i know that a d16 would only get about 160 or so whp at 5 psi and would have to bump it up to 7 to get 185

By the way Iamsv... That is probably one of the sweetest looking kits out there... Probably one of the best ones to be honest with you... Go For It!

I think that kit is very nice looking. Piping looks clean, and that manifold is sexy as hell. One issue which may or may not be a bad thing, is the lack of equal length piping on the manifold. Im a turbo amatuer, so I wouldnt know how badly that would effect the performance. But putting down 185 at the wheels on only 5 psi sounds very good.

Some of you SF lovers should take a look at the "quality" work they did in a post in this very forum. Perhaps it was a "one time" deal where they got lazy who knows.
And to answer Iamsv's original question about alcohol injection. Yes it is a viable alternative. This system cools the cylinder walls and boosts octane as well, if im not mistaken. It's also being used on a generous population of late model cars including the RSX and EP3 applications and has been proven to make a considerable amount of HP.
