sf turbo kit numbers conceivable?
sf turbo kit numbers conceivable?
i was really thinking about buying the sf kit for my '01 vic. i had a discussion w/ a friend who said that the 1/4 time in the mid 13's is not attainable. he said his mustang mach1 has like 300 hp and he barely gets into the mid-low 13's, so he said it is impossible for a civic w/ 200 whp to get that time. is this true? people that have the kit... what are your numbers like?

Believe what's been said here. Also, think how much heavier the mustang is. There are other factors to consider, and 200+ whp on our civics will make them very fast.

man, mustangs suck *****.... i have already made so many gt's and cobras turn their heads and take a double take and see that i am still there.....there have been several on the sight to break the 13 second mark... if i could catch traction with mine(dont know how to drive yet, cause i just installed kit last weekend) i would break the `13 sec. mark...if i was your friend, i would have put the money into an import that he put into that mach1....when you get your SF turbo kit, race him and beat him, and make him like it....this kit owns.... just ask catalyst.... he has beaten a C5 corvette with his kit...
yo jwcardy, what kinda mods do you have on your car? i was just wondering. i have no idea what my 1/4 time is, but i have cai, exhaust, and gettin' 16'' rotas and cf hood installed next week. if i get the turbo kit, would i be able to get into the high 13's possibly? or do i need to get more shiet for my car?

i have the base sf kit with alcohol injection.... i am running 6lbs right now....with full exhaust....man, catalyst ran a 13.6 in cali on factory rims and tires on 9lbs of boost with alcohol injection kit.... that was with stock internals and full interior... basically he just bolted on the kit and went to the track
So... What are the merits of this SF kit, I'm basically looking for more acceleration. i've seen the FIPK II as the way to go, or should I consider the turbo with 6 psi, considering I'm all stock right now?

FIPKII will give a few extra hp. Nothing big. Ifyou can't afford turbo, try the DH racing stuff like ported head and crank pulley. Then if you decide to boost later, those mods will improve even more.

LMAO..My friend has a S281 Saleen that consistantl runs mid-low 13's and a I killed his car. I actualy completely overtook him and got infront of him and then at about 125 he slowly passed me. So I know im in the 13's and when I get my head/cam/manifold back from DH Ill be in the 12's.
im not an stupid. i was just stating how a civic with less horse power then a mustang will be faster then it. thats all. that is why an 01 mustang gt has 280 hp but is so heavy it only get about 15.1 stock in the 1/4. an import with that much horse power eats vets. because they are not near as heavy. but if you think i am an idiot thats fine.

Dont accept one persons openion as the general openion of this forum. I dont know you or civicly02 so im not going to get in the middle.
Anyways back on topic: like whats been said by others the power to weight ratio and final gearing has alot to do w/ why hondas can be faster. Our close gearing lets us accelerate faster but lowers our top end speed. Thats why I was able to pass my friends mustang but he overtook me again in the long run. The fast acceleration gives us quicker 1/4 mile times and an edge in other short distance races.

If you spend $4000 on a turbo kit, you would think you would spend the $100 to dyno the car on a saturday afternoon so you know what it ACTUALLY puts out, instead of guessing. Also, spend the $15 on a test and tune night at the drags (plus what, $10 in gas?) and PROVE what your car runs....
Numbers are comparable, "street kills" and "seat of the pants" is not.

yeah im hearing 13.9 down to 13.6 13.9 cause they can't hook up. to hell with that, once i build my motor and get my turbo i'm running 14 psi and a 60 shot of nos on slicks. any predictions of my times? and don't say anything about a blown motor cause i ain't getting cheap parts
