Rip off or good deal?
Alright so today I got a quote from the best engine place within an hour or so from here. I'm getting a complete engine rebuild, (lemme think.. pistons, rings, springs, valve job, port and polish, crank, cam, heads ported, bored out to 2.0, connecting rods, brass gaskets, and I feel like I'm forgetting some things but oh well), and the SF turbo kit (I'll be ordering it soon). The guy quoted me $7000 without the $3100 for the turbo. So I guess probably around $10,500ish altogether for everything installed..
I don't know much about how much engine work costs so is this a good deal or no? If it is, I'm gonna drop my car off probably after the end of the month so he can start working on it.

Goto www.dh-racing.com They have some of the best work around for fair prices.
Hell, their full race-ready, 9 sec capable LSvtec motor for $4500, and only $7200 for a complete swap (older civics of course)
I know this motor doesnt work in our cars withou a lot of modifications, but just imagine how cheap a built D17 would be from them?

i this dude u know makeing everything i mean a crank and springs and a brass head gasket, if this is for a d17 who is making all this stuff that i dont know about
Sounds like he is charging you alittle more than he should. He is probably making money off of each product that he puts into your engine. Also, it looks like most of the charges are labor. Like Catylst said, check out DH-Racing. Josh is a cool guy and will answer any questions that you have. And with all that work you are having done, he may give you a small discount.

The key would be to make sure you get your dollars worth and just cause he says hes getting you this or that, make sure its in writing what hes getting you and then tell him you want to take pictures of the build up! This will keep it on the up and up. But like Catalyst suggested DH-racing specialize in hondas and may be a better idea.

that long block from dh racing with all of the upgrades only comes to 4480 dollars so just add install and turbo on top of that and it sounds like dh would be alot cheaper.

I still haven't gotten around to calling the guy about those parts. But tomorrow for SURE I'm stopping in there to talk to him. I'm also gonna call DH Racing and see what's up and if I can get a good price.
C2i0v0i1C - Cylinder walls? Who needs those? pssshhh *sarcasm*
Ehhh, I don't know, I haven't really decided 100%
Another question: Okay, let's say I do the DH Racing thing.. who's gonna swap the engine out and put the new one in for me? I don't really have the tools or the time for that..

As i recall the Guy from DH-racing that post here alot mentioned in another post something about boring and stoking the D17 wouldnt be nearly as benificial as doing other mods. Unless you were wanting EXTREME HP or something to that effect.

C2, it doesnt matter, Corey and Jon from our club slowmotion, will be doing the install AT Showdownmotorsports. Corey has received a job there for install's, for the time he is in school. We are sort of sponsored by them. Due to the fact that Corey is up here at School in Toledo and Jon and come her easily. Aside all of this, the motor will be installed perfectly with our skill level. And I think I would have your consent (C2) as you have seen our work. No one has to have work done by us, but we are highly confident and will complete the job to the best of our ability. 500$ and not getting your hands dirty....
