I knew that running boost would have negative effects but they caught up w/ me faster than I expected. Ive been running 10-11 psi on the street for the last 6 months and 13 psi when racing. For a while I've smelled coolant after I drive tha car hard but couldnt find a leek, nor did I see any coolant in the oil or exhaust.
More recently I've noticed that my temperature gauge is eratic. It will rise and fall durring normal driving, and always begins to rise when idling after a run. So what does this mean? Unfortunetly theese are all early signs of headgasket failure.
No big deal though I was getting ready to send the head to DH racing anyways,I just need to find out where to get a thicker headgasket from.
Oh and before someone blames this on my choice of turbokits most of you know that Catalyst had a similar problem.

Im not worried about it, theres no damage to the head so its realy not a big deal. This is the price I expected to pay for running the hell out of the car.

oh yea. Before you get a thicker gasket, buy a cam gear.
By putting a thicker head gasket on there, it raises up the head. This stretches the timing belt slightly and throws off its marks. By raising the head it advances timing (fuel timing, ignition timing). That is dangerous.

You know, I am a big baby and would not have the guts to run my Civic @ 13psi- I am cautious and stay @ 8 to 9psi- props to you for running your car as it should be run!

that WILL happen under stress like that.. can also be due to detonation from not enough fuel when you get high in boost, and the gasket formed a small crack.... if you boost 13psi with the ported head you really should build the bottom end, thats LOTS of power... you will need more than a head gasket imo.... but im gonna run stock honda gasket "specially" torqued down with a block gaurd, and run 9psi still with ported head, so its all good

i used two stock headgaskets, just make sure u keep a check on the torque of the head, bc over time the gaskets will squish together and cause over heating, mine did, just had to retorque
