Electronic Boost Controller Question
Electronic Boost Controller Question
Are there any out there that display psi on a lcd screen to elminate the need for a boost guage? I was going to get a MBC but I would rather go this route.

I purchased a GreddyProfec B Spec II last week. It does show your last boost / peak boost. But i don't believe it displays it while you are driving. (It's kinda pricey though if you're gonna pay retail, about $300.00. I only paid $150 though)
A while ago I was looking on Ebay. And there was someone sellin theze Blitz turbo timers that also served as a boost gauge I believe. You might wanna take a look around on Ebay for turbo timers and/or boost controllers. You might find somethin.
If you dont already have a boost controller, and can afford it..I'd recommend the AVC-R

The Profec B Spec II actually does display boost in psi while driving and it also shows peak boost when you let off.
And the Blitz DTT DC turbo timer has a built in boost gauge that reads in bar.

That's good to know. I wasn't aware that it would display PSI WHILE driving. Heh. I honestly think an AVC R would have been better because it has more features, but you can't beat the price I got that Spec II for.

speaking of greddy.....has anyone spoken to them about the e-manage settings?? I'm pretty hesitant to get one. Both people that have one here have different settings and I don't wanna fry my ECU. I do need a timing retard though.

i dont think it will fry, we had no idea what settings to put it on, i think we tried the RSX one, if u dont have it on the right settings i think it just wont start, greddy is useless when it comes to this

:::BUT:::
4-8-A won't send an altered MAP signal to the ECU regardless of a map change or not. It'll only send the ACTUAL signal, and will also throw a code 14 for VTEC Signal.
4-8-B will send an altered MAP signal to the ECU. So adjustments to the MAP actually have a purpose.
So 4-8-B works:
4= 4 cylinder independent coil DIS ignition
8 = Honda/Acura
B = MAP Pressure Sensor 2
I've logged data and this infact is the setting. Some people have trouble with blowing fuses using that setting with the ignition harness. I haven't. But if that is so, then use 4-8-C, set the pressure sensor in the software to HN_PR-2 instead of HN_PR-3. You'll probably get a code 14 (maybe not if you actually have VTEC) still but it will alter the MAP signal (because of the HN_PR-2 setting, which is simulating a rotary setting of B.) You dig?

And if you use the RSX or any wrong setting, you're right, it'll either die, or bog down pretty hard.
The way to actually fry the Emanage is to program it while the car is running.

Yeah for the spec II, you have to actually change it to display in psi. The default setting is in bar. But when you're boosting, depending what it's set on, it will display boost until you let off the throttle, then it flashes the highest boost level that you hit.

got this from a friend regarding the AVC-R:
Up to four data channels can be selected for monitoring:
Intake Manifold
Vacuum/Boost Pressure
Engine RPM
Vehicle Speed
Throttle Position
AVC-R Solenoid Valve Duty Cycle
Injector Duty Cycle (if connected)
So i'm pretty sure that's a yes.
here's a link if you wanna check it out:

I have been a ***** at a lot of the groups out there (the E-Manage Yahoo group, the S2000 group, and clubRSX), trying to get as much information regarding the E-manage as possible.
The settings which I finally settled upon where those that the users of the S2000 forum were using. This was 4-8-C. I still don't know what the difference is in terms of the pressure sensor setting, but so far I am not having any issues with either my stock ECU or my E-manage.
In fact I just fixed some wiring today (had injector signals crossed), and double checked everything with my laptop. Everything appears to be working great (in fact I forgot to delete theh -3 degree timing change I had applied when was playing around with the timing settings earlier, so I was running a little retarded on my low end
- but its fixed now).The only way you can fry your ECU is to not disconnect the power from it when working on it (ie pull the battery), or by wiring the E-manage wrong. Even than the ECU is fairly robust - they are designed to take a lot of abuse, otherwise auto manufacturers would have a lot of lawsuits on their hands when peoples car breakdown or crash due to ECU failure.
If you really want an E-manage, go for it. With the newest firmware upgrade they seem to work great with Honda's newer cars. Hopefully one day Greddy will have an E-manage application SPECIFIC to our car, but I don't think it will happen any time soon.....
