My Dilemma... What would u do?

i have roughly 17,000 to work with. i've decided that i want a 01-02 civic.

option 1: find an 01 civic dx/lx for about 10k, spend the rest on a typeS swap

option 2: find a nicer 02 civic ex for about 13-14k, then put on an SF turbo kit

what would u rather do? whats the benefits to both

thanks

I say turbo but still go with the lower priced car so you can build the motor and have tons of power. Plus theres nothing like driving a turbo car.

swap, the dx is lighter because of no extras, which means faster...

i think u should do the swap...because after the swap you can turbo the engine still and make over 300hp on stock internals

swap for sure cause if you get a turbo, that will be the biggest hp gains for the d17, where as with a k20 you are just getting started

buy an 01 EX for VTEC (its not much, but allows you to run higher boost initally w/ SF turbo because it retards the timing? somewhere. EX can run a few more pounds of post than DX/LX according to catylst)
17,000 - 12,000 = 5,000

SF turbo
5,000 - 3,100 = 2,900

DH Shortblock turbo package
2,900 - 2,700 = 200

Gauges and other stuff
200 - 200 = one fast car ready for you.

/\ Good point and good luck with the swap unless a shop is doing it doesn't seem to be the easiest thing to do.

no way dude, like dude said get a hatchback, with any jdm and turbocharge it and you'll have a blast!my friend bought a 93 civic hatch with a gsr in it, yanked that out and ran frankenstein and built the motor and turbocharged it, he now runs 11.8 and 12 psi. is motor can handle about 20 but his clutch can't. find a 2k1 that says he runs 11's at low boost. i wish i woulda did that

Exactly why i went with doing a swap. Lets face it, our d17a2 is a pos. K series is a better platform to work with.

good thing i did a search cus i havethe same delima.

i feel that you can benefit more in the long run with a swap. you can run NA and still out perform the SF kit with stock internals. When you get bored you can boost the k20. and after all of that your still in a slow "looking"civic
