SF turbo questions?

Looking for a Dyno on a '01 EX with and without a SF turbo. Quarter mile times would be nice also.

What gas does everyone run with the turbo? I have heard 91 or 93. How does this effect mileage?

Does anyone in our around MN have this kit, I am looking to take a ride.

Thanks...

I did search before posting and only found one dyno. But thanks for the tip. Still looking for info on gas and a local turbo owner.

ok.....
ex on 8 psi made 183 whp and 189 ft/lbs of torque

You have to run high octane gas because if you dont the car will detonate ant possibly breaks parts.
The gas mileage is actually increased on highway driving (from my experiences)

I use 91 octane. It is good for about 6-7 psi daily on an lx, and about 7-8 psi daily on an ex.

you can gain anywhere from 10-50 whp. Depending on the cat, car, boost, turbo, etc

Post it up in the local forums, someone might have it.

There's a couple vids you can watch here and there also, if nobody bites.

why can you run more boost on an ex? Doesnt it have higher compression?

thanks to the vtec, the computer automatically takes ignition timing out. The lx does not. If your timing is advanced..... it will be more prone to detonate. So even though the ex has higher compression, the fact that the vtec retards the ignition timing is enough to run a little more boost.

The alcohol injection is made specifically for running 9-10 psi. So if you plan on needing more than 7 psi, i would recommend the kit. You can change the jets, so if you only want 8 psi, you go with a small jet. If you want 12, you use a big one.

so depending on how much boost your gonna run, you have to switch the alcohol injection jets? How hard is it to switch a jet?

I got a bit of a question concering the SF intercooler. I know that we have to trim down the stock bumper quite a bit, but is there a mesh lower grill that would cover the intercooler but also not impede the air flow into the intercooler. The reason I ask is that looking at some of the pictures, I noticed that certain parts of the frame and actual bumper show through, I just want to hide that and keep the car looking clean. One more thing, will there be a problem with fitting the oem bodykit , not the aero, onto the bumper?

The jets simply unscrew. They are held in with loktite, so they are hard to unscrew. But they are interchangable.

As for the wire mesh, you can put mesh infront of the intercooler, and it will not affect the cooling much. And as for the OEM bodykit, i am not sure, because i have not installed the turbo kit on a car with the stock kit. But i am pretty sure that since you only trim out the grill, the kit will still fit fine.

catalyst pulled a 13.6 at 9psi i believe... he has the timeslips in the NEW timeslip section of this site... i think the EX pulled 185whp at 5-6 psi... that's pretty impressive if you ask me...
