Boosting a D17 Question....
This is for all of you who know about boosting or spraying the D17. Its to my understanding that the intake manifolds are plastic. Now for the people who have sprayed or boosted, how have you gone about not cracking the intake manifold from the pressure? Does the manifold take so much or have people been swaping them out for aftermarket manifolds. I havent been on the site in quite sometime and wanted to see what everyone was doing or if this posses a problem. Thanks for your input.
Hey captain you should be fine. I got a custom intake manifold on my motor b/c i was gonna go turbo. It has side mounted throttle body to. But im selling my motor now, got k20a2 swap
i have mine set a 8psi with a 35 shot of nitrous and the car still runs fine. alot of new cars have plastic intakes. my friend has a 01 trans am. it has 330hp with a plastic intake and supposibly those cars love nitrous.

I'm not saying it will explode of crack, I am just thinking that it would be logical that it would happen under alot of boost or the nitrous freezing. Not trying to start any debate. Just curious on the issue. Thanks guys. If anyone knows of anyone selling a block...let me know.
Crack the manifold...doubtful. The thing about the stock manifold is how restrictive it is. It doesn't allow a whole lot of airflow. When building the motor and boosting more pressure, I will definitely be getting a new one.
