turbos with auto is better than with manual??
yes i did search first off, but my questions were answered with more questions
first off, is it true that it is better for turbos if you have an auto because you lose the boost when you shift in a manual? i really dont understand that statement, i could really use some help with turbos because im considering getting a swap + turbo + zex nitrous in a month or so
thanks a lot!
also what the hell does spool mean
thanks a lot!

first of all, i am one of those people who believe if you don't know how it works, wait till you do before you add it to your car
spooling defines when the turbo is working, creating pressure, spinning.
automatics does not require the user to shift
user doesn't have to shift = does not have to let go of gas pedal
does not let go of gas pedal = may not have to blow off
no blow off = no lost of pressure
i don't believe it's a lot of pressure loss, when someone shifts anyway.
but as always, if i am wrong, please correct

no offense and not trying to flame, but if you dont know what turbo spool is i highly doubt youre capable of running a swap, turbo and nitrous. if you do though, make sure to put extra welds on the intake otherwise itll be curtains

imp: haha not to mention... what swap are u doin thats gonna be an automatic? just curious.. and if its a k20.. with a turbo.. what makes u think u need NOS ? cause the cybernation kit (top of the line one ) is 12k and it puts out 500hp. so my question is .. with the swap , turbo and nos.... where are u tryin to go with the car? to the moon?

you dont really lose much boost in a manual when you shift (if you do it right), because that is what the BOV does. It relieves the pressure in the pipes so the turbo keeps spinning at the same speed. So when you put your foot back to the floor, the airflow is still the same, and the pressure rises almost instantly.

Yes, an auto would be better if you were a hardcore drag racer. Now if you want to do this on a honda auto tanny good luck, I dont have info to back it up but I'm pretty sure honda auto tranny's are pretty weak. Everything would need to be upgraded bushings and washers, clutches, plates, torque converter, higher stall, OMG to much to list. But go ahead and try I would love to see the results. But really, I think you should build your car with the k.i.s.s. philosophy

If you know how to build the auto tranny, and select the proper gearing, then the auto would be better. But, the stock honda auto has bad gearing and is not very strong. So therefore, on a stock honda, the manual will be better and produce faster 1/4 mile times.
BTW, everytime you let off the gas, the BOV will go off. Dont worry, you will still have the cool sound.

whoo-hoo!! got a little worried there, hehe.what kind of 1/4 times do you estimate for an AT?
You'll have to know what you doing when shifting a manual.(specialy w/all that power)
and yes I found out that our automatic trany will need a lot of work before you put so much torqe to it or will fall appart.
Even the manual trany will go Kapput if you keep it on on gear for to long and red line.
Just get an electronic BOV and Nitrous you'll fool the dommies
Swap, nitrous and turbo
Why did you just bought an RSX?
If you have all that money, it'll be less agrivation and a lot cheaper too.
And if you lack the know how to operate your car with all that custom stuff you will end up hating your car and wasting alot of money.
Once you get tubos and all that, maintenace gets to be something you do almost daily to keep all your investmnet in good shape.
I think you are way over your head (not flaming, but be for real)

well BECASUE I DONT LIKE HOW THEY look. i only like thier power. plus there is no way in hell im am going to get out of my car because someone behind me wantss to get out, damn coups. thats why i have a sedan. it would be more expensive to get an rsx brecause they cost (dont know too much about prices so correct me if im wrong) 17,000 i got my civic for 9,000 (6th gen no new crap for me
) plus say 6,000 for k20 there now i have 15,000 dollar car that i know i like and has enough room in the back for other ppl. Still man for that kind money you can get a number of other nice fast cars taht are out on the market.
But if you like 7thgen civics that much is all good.
I like mine and I like the factory price even better, but I would mind getting something better if I had more money.
Deffinately is you who's going to drive it so you have to make sure to be happy with it.
I'll like to see it when is done it will be the most radical vic around.
I'm working on my D17 internals for now and sometimes I feel I'm over my head.
Is a good thing I know some ppl that are good with cars and I'm getting much needed advice.
Some of the guys here are quite knowlegable and are helping me out with information.
Good luck man
Peace.

i'm turbo'ing my civic cuz its my hobby, though its kinda hard to make your project car your daily driver at the same time but it will sweet in the end. a car that can win at the track but yet you can still drive home sitting behind the wheel instead of hauling back on a trailor, better yet its a AT so its that much easier to drive..not that stick is all that hard. plus ever since fast and furious people have been bad mouth civics and hondas in general, i'm here to change that....

When you have a non-rice, fast honda.... the domestic guys give you respect. I hang out with a bunch of mustang guys after work now. One guy has a new SVT supercharger Cobra, who doesnt want to race me in front of a crowd because he knows he will lose. But thats cool, they cant take a shot like that in front of a whole bunch of people. They would lose respect from some of the ignorant people. The "rice" of the domestics. From now on, i will call them "corn". The "corn" domestics that run low 16's would say "yea, now i know i can beat a new cobra because it lost to a honda." Since they gave me their respect, i am doing the same.

thats the reason why I might get a manual tranny in my car cost me 800 bucks for everything at a local junkyard, me and my friends are certified mechanics that will do it for free, I really love the way the BOV sounds, esp on the robbusaf's car OMG so sweet that vid.
