Car at KMS for internals

After hitting a boost spike of 18 psi from my ghetto rigged boost controller - (the line slipped off of the boost acuator) - my car started making a weird tapping noise that gradually got faster with the revs. I had Honda re-adjust all of my valves but the noise was still there. People I've showed my car to have said that it must be my wrist pin. I don't want to drive my car knowing it will get worse the more I drive it so I am finally going to spend the last of my coins from the couch on getting all the internals done by KMS. www.hondarace.com

This weekend I am going up to Covington, GA to drop my car off where it will stay there for over a month to be worked on.... Here is a list of what is being done:

-Je Pistons- 9:1
-Rods
-High flow Oil Pump
-Titanium retainers and springs
-Block Gaurd
-Gaskets/bearings/washers
-Valve Guides and Seals

I think I got a pretty good deal on this package including installation. Maybe then I can dyno my car and run higher than 12psi daily... I'll keep you all updated.

-Robb

Excellent, kick up the boost bro. I am interested to see how your car will run after all that has been done to it. I may consider the same route

not a bad deal man... but according to my calculations... i think our rods are good over 300hp... but maybe you want more (i see a 50-75 shot and high 11's in your future)... idk.. just saying you could probly save the money from the rods if you wanted... but we ALL want dyno sheets... and you GOTTA port & polish your head as well, hopefully you just forgot to mention that part... otherwise you will have to rip it all off just to do that later on....... you are a BALLER for sure man.. dont know how you afford it... im looking at gtting an extra engine and doing this in the psring, but by dave hickman i hope...... gotta talk him into it.....

So I take it you aren't going to do anything to reinforce the block, like sleeving it? I definitely would do that first and foremost, your cyllinder walls are only going to take so much before you have a cracked cyllinder wall.

^^ I agree with andy. Is KMS going to make rods for our cars? Or are they grinding them? What fuel milage are you getting with the kit?

Any estimate as to how much power this will make? I mean, 6 g's is a lot to invest in the D17 (turbo + internals).....Almost worth doing a swap straight out (cybernation, 6 G's out the door).

But that's just an opinion. I'm sure your car will still kick some @ss!

Are you figuring 6g for the turbo kit alone? You still have to get a k20 swapped in which is at least 7k.

So, for 6k, you have a built, boosted d17 and for another 800 you can have it sleeved to handle 60 psi.

And for 13k you can swap a k20 with a cybernations kit that is capable of the same thing.

Yeah, but remember that you will be running less boost with the K20 to achieve the same results. Less boost = easier on the engine. I'm not saying what he is doing is bad, everyone has to do their own thing - all I'm saying is that $6,000 or so could have gotten a K20. I was figuring about $3000 for turbo, plus $3000 for internals on the D17.

I still don't know what I'm going to do, its going to be a while before I can afford anything. Hopefully by than the dust will have settled, and prices may come down. Who knows....

yea.... i know john at kms is going to do everything he can to make my engine solid. i didnt really have a choice about this whole internal thing... I use that car as my daily and i dont have the time or money (ha, yea youre thinking) to get a swap or a new d17 and rebuild the old d17 thats in my car right now... its all good... while im waiting for my car to get done, i still have my rsx and audi 1.8t. =) no, i dont deal drugs.

I dont know, but I cant wait to get to my tech school and get it over with so I can get a job and work on my car with lots of money. Money is what makes this all possible. Although, right now I am looking on obtaining money for the SF kit.

and what calculations did you use to think your rods can handle 300whp or any part of that motor stock handling 300whp.
