SFpower Turbo Kit **updated**
I had to make a new thread because the other one was 20 pages long.
Ok, Here is some updated information about the Stafford Fabrications turbo kit.
With the stock exhaust, stock plugs, and 5.5 psi of boost, a 2002 LX made
166 whp and 165 ft/lbs of torque
With that boost level, it ran a (corrected) 1/4 mile time of 14.9 @ 92.7
With a 2 1/2" exhaust and some Denso iridium plugs, i ran a 14.5 @ 97.7 mph at 5.0 psi
Now i am testing some of the new upgrades and i am running 9 psi on pump gas without any problems.
The current available upgrades are:
Air-Water intercooler
Bigger turbo (AR.60 intake)
3" downpipe
The Base Kit comes with:
Air-air intercooler
Garrett T3 turbo (ar.42 int, ar.48 exh)
Intercooler piping (powdercoated, you select color)
2 1/2" downpipe
4-1 tubular collector style manifold
Turbo XS BOV
Map sensor isolation valve
oil lines
oil drain fitting
PFM (fuel system)
Hose clamps and couplers
The phone number to the shop is (661) 816-5444
And you will speak to Mike Stafford.

Well I hope you guys make a kit for the EP soon. I'm looking at getting a turbo kit with in the next month and would like it to be a SF. I just wish I didn't live all the way across the country, or I would donate me car. And I can afford to ship my car to you guy to work on for 2 weeks. Its the only car Iv'e got right now.
Have you guys seen the cybernation kit yet? I'm hoping to get a kit that produces around that amount of power on stock internals. Besides ephatch.com you can check out k-series.com too. Its mostly EP owners, so you should be able to get someones attention there if needed. Thanks in advance.

air to water kit $3400
upgraded turbo $100 extra
Water injection, as low as $50
The air to water intercooler will give you the edge at the track. By adding ice to the water tank, you can gain 20+ whp without touching the boost.
The bigger turbo actually has much better throttle response and has the capability to flow a higher volume of air.
The 3" downpipe lets the turbo exhale better. It can increase spoolup time and high end power.
Another addition to the upgrades is Water/alcohol injection. By injecting a small amount of water into the intake charge, you can run more boost without having to rely on race gas or octane booster. Also by adding alcohol to the water, you can increase the boost level even more.
There are several different models that you can get. They run as low as $50. The expensive one may include a dual-stage boost controller. there is not a price for that one as of yet.

COOL! That explains it! I was watching Super 2ner TV yesterday and there was some guy putting ice into a small box in his engine bay. I have NEVER seen that before and was wondering what the hell he was doing. Now I know

The upgrade kit is $3500 which is the Bigger turbo and the air to water intercooler.
If you only want the air-water intercooler without the big turbo, it is $3400

alcohol wouldnt mess up the stock fuel system would it? or am i thinking of methanol?
and how much extra boost could you prob. run?
9? 10? or more?
Would really like to see some numbers for the top end system with the air-water, alcohol, and the .60 intake turbo on the EX.(no rush just talking) would be great.

My car right now has the new experimental Water/Alcohol injection on it. I am running 9 psi, and it feels a hell of a lot better than the 6 psi did.
The alcohol is not injected through the injectors. It has a second tank (about 1 quart). The alcohol/water mixture is then sprayed into the intake charge, causing it to cool down even further. Then when the alcohol mixes with the fuel, it raises the octane rating. It is like injecting octane booster into your car.
The higher the octane the fuel is, the more boost you can run.
I am running 9 psi. I can probably run even more, i just think 9 is a nice number for the street, seeing that i have zero traction through 2nd gear.

Catalyst, I have a question for you or Mike from SF. I know you can get all the piping powder coated but can you get the intercooler powder coated black? I want all of the piping powder coated black as well as the intercooler. I don't want people to be able to see the intercooler through my bumper. I want to go as sleeper as possible. I'm still willing to have the SF logo on the intercooler though. Painted white or something. It will probably just look like a radiator of some sort.
Thanks.

I would think the larger inlet would help spoolup. It just allows for more airflow, alond with the 3" downpipe. He's using the same turbine, so more air through the same turbine would allow for better spoolup.

The bigger turbo is just a better combination of AR and trims. The bigger turbo is a bit bigger, but the spoolup time is the same (if not quicker) and the throttle response is better.
The shop is located in Lancaster Ca, about 60 miles north of L.A.
Slammed: You probably dont want to paint/powdercoat/etc. your intercooler, because it will hinder its cooling abilities, and you will feel a noticable difference.

Yo this kit is awesome......3500 for the top of the line kit is very, very reasonable. But the thing is....where the hell in jersey would i be able to get this kit put on? It's like....I have a feeling that if i take it to a place around here they wont be familiar with it and they would mess it up. And I would mess it up worse if i tried it...PLUS i got an automatic. I'm screwed...

What in your opinion causes the traction lose in 2nd gear? What kind of rims/tires are you running? all stock stuff? I wonder if a wider tire might help. What do you feel is the problem there?
Hey Cat,
I'm about to order these gauges... I want to make sure they are ok. Also, 1. are these gauges ok or can i find them somewhere else for a better price, besides ebay? 2. I can put these in before I put my turbo in, right? and 3. How hard is it to install these gauges? Do you reccomend me going with full sweep electrical as oposed to mechanical for the boost gauge?
Thanks,
I'll wait to here back from you before I complete my order.

I am very interested in this kit.. i have a speed shop up here in the midwest... a lot of people ask me what turbo kits are good and all that.. if i called Mike would i be able to chat with him about this and some other questions i might have? Thanks a lot for your help and your awesome set up... I look forward to speaking with you in the future...
