One more question... how long will the price stay at $3500 for the upgraded kit (mentioned in my above post)? Or is that the set price?

Eman: It may be dyno'd this week. (Hopefully)

CGoodwin: Yes, all stock tires and rims. And yes, bigger tires would be AWESOME!

Robb: Those sound good!

Sivio, Yes, still on stock internals and stock clutch. I have over 5000 miles on my turbo kit, with the stock clutch (i got the kit with 24,800 miles, and i now have 30,020 miles) As long as it doesnt detonate, i think it will hold up.

Snakey: Give mike a call. It doesnt hurt to ask! (661)816-5444

With the 3" downpipe, you have to have a custom exhaust done after install, and you have to purchase an external wastegate and send it to us (or send us the money and tell us which one you want) I am not sure how long that price will stay, but i will get you the info asap.

Thanks Catalyst! If I have to customize the exhaust, then I'll most likely just get the air-water intercooler upgrade.

One more question... with the bigger turbo, you'd NEED the 3" downpipe, right? Or wrong?

no, you can use the standard downpipe with the bigger turbo. It has the same exhaust housing.

Oh okay. Now I know what I want to get. I just need to know if that price ($3500) has an expiration date or not. Thanks again!

maybe i missed this somewhere along the line but what is the price for the base kit? this is the kit i am saving for but i may save up a little more for the air to water cooler kit.
also what kind of numbers would we be looking at with an air to water kit with the bigger turbo? cuz 166 HP to the wheels is damn good, this was with the base kit? would the air to water kit be something i can run with stock internals or would it be to much. i have an automatic so would i be ok for a couple months without a torque converter and overhaul kit? and just in general how would a turbo perform with an AT? i heard once it gets going it can be better than a MT but off the line, how fast would it spool up? and just wondering for when i want to look cool in front of my dumb little buddies, would it smoke the tires?

I can answer a couple of those questions:
- the price for the base kit is $2900 for 7thGenCivic.com members (it'll stay that price until the end of August)
- 166 whp is with the base kit (and everything else stock)

All the other questions you asked is something I would like to know as well. I have an automatic too.

I'm about to order these gauges... I want to make sure they are ok. Also, 1. are these gauges ok
instead of a A/F gauge use a EGT gauge or Pyrometer gauge..........its better for tuning.....the higher the number....the leaner it is.........the A/F isn't accurate.....You have to use a wideband o2 sensor.....

The only thing i would recommend for low boost (7 psi) on an automatic would be a tranny cooler.

Robb....I will tell mike you want the other turbo.

And yes you can run both of them at the same time. Believe me, i have the piping to do it. It just is not cost effective. And yes, it will have a small improvement. Think of it this way, if the air going into the air-water intercooler is cool, wouldnt you think it would get a few degrees colder than if it was hot air going in?

But like I said, not cost effective. Add another sever hundred $$$ for a small gain that you could get with something else smaller and cheaper.

Talked to Mike yesterday. Great guy. He said the cost for the air-water intercooler and bigger turbo is pretty much a set price: ($3500... not discounted, of course. That's just the price.) Just a little FYI. No need to ask him anymore Catalyst. Thanks! I will be ordering mine very soon.

Ok, I am getting the equal length manifold and the larger turbo... I called mike today but i feel like the biggest n00b! omg. he said if i wanted, he could mount me a place to put an external wastegate on and that it would be better for tuning, etc... I am confused as to why i would get an external wastegate as opposed to using the internal one... can someone clarify this? What does the wastegate do?? And if I get one, which one should I get with this sf kit? I'm sooo lost... for some reason i keep thinking of the external wastegate as the same thing a bov does... help please. and yes, i did search.

...

Ok, a wastegate allows the turbines in your turbo to slow down if it gets too fast. That's it's main purpose. It can sense boost pressure...

A BOV releases the air that is shoot back once the throttle plate is closed so it dosen't go back into the turbo which can cause turbo lag, or broken fins...

Ok, look at it this way.... The external wastegates run about $200 - $600. It can be adjusted extremely easily, and when combined with a turbo that doesnt have an internal wastegate, you can make more power in the High RPM's at high boost, because it will flow more exhaust gas. For our cars, unless you have a built engine, you wont be able to run a high enough boost level to need the external wastegate.

Oh yea..... i forgot to announce that we now sell TRUE equal length manifolds. They arent just 4-1, they are 4-1 equal length.

Catalyst, how long does it take to make the kit? When I talked to Mike, he asked if I wanted him to start working on making the kit for me.
