Rep Power: 0 a lil more power???? a k20a will give you great power and yes it will be worth it and k-series is only gettin better.... ask around or search because some people have done it and you should ask them. 1000 seems like a scam for a k20a mtr

Rep Power: 258 he said a K20a3 which is the base RSX/civic si motor.
i think as of now the K20a3 is a good option since it is a lot cheaper than the a and a2.
id rather turbo than get the K20a3. the a and a2 are different stories.

Rep Power: 0 i would always rather have N/A powerband then a lagging turbo in my city, the weather is always changing in calgary, one day it sunny hot, and next its COOLLLLDDDDD and snowy, hehe, so K20A is a good option, but really its just too hard to save that kind of cash for the A2! so i would sayyyy f the K20A3 and just boost the B*TCH

Rep Power: 296 the cost of swaping a k20a3 and a k20a2 is the same and costly. If your gonna spend that much money to swap then it'll be better to save for a k20a2. the 40hp is huge then again 127 to 160 is huge as well. i think u should ask yourself if you want it now or wait till you can afford a k20a2. I've seen k20a2's go as low as 3k, so its up to u

Rep Power: 273 well.. take this into consideration and i already have parts coming in to do it..i am swapping in a k20a3..i also have a k20a2 head which is the type S coming in... basically the only differnece between the a3 and the a2 is the head.. the a3 has 2 intake lobes and 1 exhaust while the a2 head has 2 intake lobes and 2 exhaust lobes..so if you can find a cheap k20a3 then down the line swap out the head.. i have seen the a2 heads go for as cheap as 500.. but if u want to build your head find a k20a2 head without the internal parts which should be around 100-200 as i have found... then go buy some skunk2 cams and valves and springs and retainers and all that good stuff

Rep Power: 267 Hey i have a A3 out of a base RSX and i love it, I just made up for not buying the type S by turboing the A3. Its a very good motor and has lots of potitential.

Rep Power: 249 Like everyone else, I would say that it depends on what your performance goals are. As everyone else says, A3 would be better if you are going to boost and the A or A2 would be good if you are going N/A. You can boost the A or A2 but they already have high compression. Also, you can always swap the A3 head for the A/A2 head later down the line and upgrade the ECU.

Rep Power: 0 Anyone who knows anything about boost knows lower compression engines respond better to high boost levels. Like xproductionz said the motors of a k20a3 versus the k20a2 or k20a basically come down to a difference in cylinder heads. So considering the price of a k20a2 somewhere around 4000 compared to a k20a3 1500, it would be a good start. Do the k20a3 swap, then boost and head swap later. Yeah the guy above is right about the revving potential of a k20a3, but revving is for high compression engines as boost is to low compression engines. What's a little sacrifice of revving for a high horsepower boosted enigne. Forgot to mention you probably can't boost too much, due to the k20a3's shitty crank and rods.

I think for 1G + Homemade t-kit = 220 whp with no sweat.
Good daly ride at the end.

Rep Power: 0 I have been running the options through my head and I think for my own project the a3 is right up my alley. I dont too much power just more and for my budget the a3 makes more sense. I thought about building my d17 for higher boost but saw that would be about 3k without adding the turbo to it. Then I would still have an automatic tranny to swap about another 1800. So I would love to get a complete a3 and do the whole thing for less than the 4800 it would cost to bring my d17 up to par.

You can find used k20a3's for like $1,000 shipped off ebay and other sites. I am currently in the process of swapping a k20a2 into my '02. I have found it is much easier to just buy a donor car
