I see modded cars with valid stickers all the time, so somebody must be passing them.

Big Rob has a little shameless behaviour in the past
At least it is better in your state than it is over here. Over here we have super strict emissions testing. It was really bad when it first started because new trucks were failing the tests. It's kind of ironic, because one of the reasons that our state has to do tests if because environmentally unfriendly gases are being blown into our state by your state.
Regarding your post, if they fail you, then take it somewhere else. There aren't any laws that I am aware of that restrict the use of airbags. If your are worried though, then raise it up to stock height. They may not even notice.

Yea, most they inspect is the exterior lights, see if you have a cat, see if all instruments work, and thats pretty much it. But remember, you need to tell them to turn your air suspension off before putting it on the lift, if they don't it can lead to problems.

^ I've never had to put a car on a lift for an inspection. They've never popped the hood or looked under the car to see if there was a cat. The most they ever did was rev my car to redline over and over again while it was parked in the inspection station, which annoyed me (checking for bov? emissions? having fun?).

^^ Yeah, it sucks that you're downwind from Houston.
