radar detector saved my ***

i know this belongs in the encounters, but i decided to post here to give the nor cal forums some life.

Anyways, i go to UC Santa Cruz. I was leaving around 8pm from a section back to san jose. I hate driving the 17 near the end of the month, because that road become infested with chp and local santa cruz police, itching to give out tickets.

So i went on the freeway and i was going about 70mph in a 65. Not really speeding, anyways my detector goes off and I slow to 65 and move to the right hand lane and let the guy behind me speed away going about 75. i go for about a mile and this cop came out of his hiding spot to follow me instead of the guy that sped past me. I was like ok whatever my detector went off as he started pacing me, then tail gating up my ***. I slow to about 60. He still tail gates me, so slow to 55mph in a 65mph.

I figured out his plan, he wants to try to keep me above 50mph so when i hit the highway part of the 17, the speed limit turns from 65mph to 50mph. I knew his plan and was ready to slow down. As i was about to, this 2005 camry speeds past me going at least 85mph and boom the cop pulls the lights. The camry slows and the as*hole cop, cut in front of me into my lane and comes to a complete stop. I was like WTF, i had to kill the brake just to keep from hitting him. I almost came to a dead stop and drove around him.

I understand why he stopped the camry but did he really have to risk a accident to stop him. Couldn't he have just told the guy to gradually slow down or pull over to the shoulder, instead of almost causing a accident with me.

Lesson of the story: If you go to santa cruz, you need a good radar detector. Santa Cruz CHP as **** ticket As*holes. Local Santa Cruz police are a little more hospitable but still to give out tickets like candy.

Gotta give the cops some credit, they're not THAT bad that they would try and get you at 55 in a zone that JUST switched to 50 from 65... that's just ghetto... and completely fightable.

The dude was probably wanting you to go faster when he was behind you.

it almost seems like a form of entrappment. I think there should be a law against that. I think my radar detector is probably the second best mod i've ever done to my car, well next to the rsx seats.

yea I got a ticket for "running 80 mph" during carpool time in highway 17 going to santa cruz.. so stupid... how could I run 80mph during traffic? and I know for sure I wasn't speeding because there was traffic in front of me! I was stupid too.. I didn't fight for it... I should have though... coz I got pull over around 4 or 4:30 or something.. when there's usually traffic..

yeah they give out a lot of bs tickets, especially to young people because they know, there the least likely to fight them. In santa cruz, you can go to court and still ask for traffic school if you lose.
