I'm a Looney Toons fan myself
Anyone ever seen that "In Living Color" episode where that kid was complaining that there are no "black" cartoon characters... except for Wile E. Coyote who always get beat up
He said that it was an example of white rascism and stuff.
Now THAT'S realism!

I can't keep up with all the crap on tv nowdays. Can you believe I've never seen an episode of "Survivor", and I don't have a clue what "Big Brother" is all about, and I cannot name a single character on "The Sopranos"? I don't have a TV and I don't need one.
Back to "cartoons" though, I have seen some of the cartoons out, and I have to say they suck. It pisses me off that my kids might have to watch some crappy animation, where people have square heads or crap like that. Sure, "Looney Toons" was wacky, but the quality of the animation was good at least. There is no such thing as a purple person, someone needs to tell animators that. And I don't go for the Pokemon stuff either (although I'm not against anime).
/end rant

i agree that there is a LOT of junk on tv. and having a 3 year old really shows me what's good and what's not. we mainly watch seasame street - and educational videos. she just got a veggie tales video she loves. and some counting and abc video's of winnie the pooh. don't get me wrong - sometimes - im pooped and i watch cartoons with her that are for kids a little older.
if you can raise your child without the tv - more power to you. my nephew doesn't watch much tv beyond seasame street. there's also a great series called baby einstein that does 30 minute videos for infants and young kids. they are great with classical music and colorful images - nothing animated. kailani always loved those - and 30 minutes is enough time to get dinner made or put the laundry away.
is your wife going to be a stay-at-home mommy? or will she have to return to the work force?
