Need recommendation on how to lower
I have a 03 2dr lx, and I've just purchased a set of wheels and tires, 215/45-17 on 17x7 with 42mm backspace.
I commute about 45 minutes a day, and want a good ride, not too hard. I only want to lower the car enough to take out "some" of the fenderwell gap, but not all of it. I've heard that the H&R springs will drop about 1.3-1.5" which seems to be the smallest drop available. I'm looking for small and NOT HARSH. I don't want it to be any more mushy than stock, but stock shock and spring feel is fine for the type of driving I'll see with this car.
I don't plan on autocrossing this car, or drag racing it.
With a small drop like that, is there enough adjustment in the factory suspension to remove the toe-in camber, or will I need to get camber adjustment hardware?
I've searched on all this, but I've not found many people who go with small drops.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Actually Eibachs Prokit is the smallest drop that I know of. Its about one inch. When I called Eibach they told me that the Prokit is 10-15% stiffer over stock and the Sportline kit is 20-25% stiffer. For the Prokit, you might be slightly cambered in the rear but the front will be fine and within spec. This will be the same with the H&R and Sportlines, except that rear will be cambered more and will require a kit if you dont want your tires to wear out.
I think with any aftermarket lower spring its going to be harsher of a ride. Though I've heard that the H&R and Tiens are pretty close to a stock feel. Oh and the Goldlines too, except they drop alot more.

i have tanabe df210 lowering springs. they ride beautifully, and i dont have aftermarket shocks yet. i have about an hour drive to work as well and i cant complain about the ride. i think i have about a 2" drope though. they come with smaller drops just check out Performance tuning.com
i say you save up for true coilovers. D2 makes adjustable coilovers (height and dampening) for around 850 from one of our vendors. Wouldn't recomend getting just springs as the OEM shocks will eventually blow out and you will have to replace them.
Might as well get the spring and shock (coilovers) at the same time and not have to worry about taking apart your car again.

you will never get the same ride quality on a lowered car as stock height. tein stech springs are good and same with tein full coilovers. i have b&g full coilovers, and i would have gone with teins but it wasnt low enough of a drop for me. it should be perfect for you. just save for full coilovers because when you get springs, youre going to have to replace the shocks sooner or later.
you dont need a camber kit, but its suggested that you do if you want your tread life on your tires to last. negative camber wont be too noticable with a 1"-1.75" drop. camber kits are cheap, about 100-125 for both front and rear. just get them in case you decide to go lower later.
oh and dont get the eibach prokit! its almost identical to stock springs, meaning it will hardly lower your car.
and the fact that you have 17" rims makes the ride rough as it is, even with stock springs
remember, the lower you go, the rougher the ride

Did a little digging, and the local Honda dealer has 2 04 civic that they put Eibach Prokit springs on with stock shocks. I was told by the parts manager that they were able to get the alignment within factory specs without a camber kit. He said that he has not riden in the car, so I'm going to go by and take test drive tonight. I'll let you all know how it rides for reference.

the eibach prokit isnt worth the money. if you want eibach, get the sportlines. the drop is noticable but not too low. the prokit looks like its at stock height. waste of money IMHO

Well I appreciate the feedback, but it appears that this is turning into "what you should get" not what is the best way to get what I want, which is a "small drop" to eliminate just a little of the fenderwell gap. A 2" drop is too much for me, regardless of ride. I don't prefer that look.
Thanks all for your help!

Cool, I appreciate the advice. If it really is that small then you're probably right. Does anyone have experience with the H&R springs for our cars? I really like their springs for mustangs, and a 1.4-1.5 inch drop is probably about right. I just got my wheel installed this morning, and it needs the drop now.
Just want to confirm that someone has these spings and either did, or did not need a camber kit to get things alligned within specs?

I dont' really need the camberkit and springs for now. I'm in need of money to get some HID's first so i'm selling them....about B&G's, It'll take long for me to save so..Trust me, there's nothing wrong with them they are both in a mint condition. I just kept them in my garage for like a year almost.
