Re: Air Compressor and Paint Gun
size and gallon are not as important as CFM...
CFM is the air flow rate....
if you get a HVLP gun with a rating of 9.0 cfm, ur aircompressor should be able to blow 9.0+ CFM...

Re: Air Compressor and Paint Gun
most aircompresor have very low CFM....if you want to get a higher CFM, like 8.0+ CFM, they get pretty damn expensive....
like 400+ dollars
like 400+ dollars

Re: Air Compressor and Paint Gun
yea, if ur planning to paint ur OWN car for teh first time ur looking at about $1000+ to start.
compressor/lines/regulators 400
gun 200
paint/primer/clear 3-400 +
sand paper/sanding blocks/bondo/tape 200+
benifit? you get a awesome compressor that you can use for ur airtools as well, a paint gun that can paint anything very well..
...and most of all, the satification that you painted YOUR car beautifully (if you take teh right steps)

Re: Air Compressor and Paint Gun
Paint: $ 55-100 Gallon 1 1/25
Clear: $ 55-100 Gallon 1 1/25
Catalyst: $45 for the clear
Gun: $75 Harbor Freight Tools
Compressor: $300 Large tank for sure
Moisture Filter: $30
Mast: $25
Tape, plastic, sand paper: $150
$755 plus many hours of prep work post prep. or you can spend
another $755 and take somewhere to get it painted. About 2G's with with color sanding and buffing.
I did my own bodywork and prep. I paid some one to shot it for $300 and the paint and clear was about $175. But i used cheap paint. I would recommend DuPont or something better. If you want a show quality finish i would recommend 2 coats of clear allowing each coat to dry / wet sand.
