anyone been to the mojave dessert??
what are the campground roads like?
i know getting there will be relatively smooth since barely anyone takes the 15 towards barstow.

and any reccomendations on what i should do to my car (aside from taping up the bumper) before a 400-500 mile round trip?
change oil? im kinda nervous about driving 200+ miles all at once. i've never driven my car farther than garden grove to ACH

What campground are you staying at? That will determine how the roads are. Mid November is a bit late in the year to go to Mojave. Why are you going to camp in Mojave? Be prepared for some cold nights.

I drive from Irvine to Lake Tahoe all the time. Car does fine. Thats why I have 150k miles on the old odometer.

hmm i dont know what campgrounds, i will find out. I was going to go on December 6 through 7th and I want to go because a geology field class is going and someone from that class invited me.

so I'm guessing the roads getting there won't be too bad,
but I'm worried that the camp grounds will be off of paved highway and I might not be able to crawl back onto the paveway if the dirt road is like sunken in or something.

If I do go, i'll bring 2 spare tires, tape up my lip and lower bumper.
and probably do an oil change before.

Are you rolling on low profiles or something? I wouldn't worry too much about tires and what not. Majove is pretty flat. Check out what cars the other people in the class are taking. As for the oil, just change it at the normal intervals that you already do. Don't change it because your driving 200 miles.

everyone in class has pick ups and suvs and non lowered cars. i could jsut ride with other people but i wanna bring my car for photo purposes and i was planning on sleeping in it too...
