yes...i think 14's a little thick for speaker wire though. usualy its 16-18, but doesn't really matter.

yes smaller the number the thicker the wire and vice versa. yes thicker wires can handle more current so you can use thicker wires if you wish, doesn't really do anything in regards to how much current is going through or sound quality.

btw the female connectors you gave me are a little big for my speaker ground negative prongs. the positive prongs seem to fit but not that tightly.

just get some pliers and compress the female connectors a little. it should make the holes smaller so its a more secure fit.
