Authentic JDM (Honda of Japan) headlights are NOT legal in the US. But most places that sell 'authentic JDM' headlights are just blacking out US spec headlights and calling them JDM.
JDM headlights are not legal because in Japan they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road. In the US our headlights have a slight flare to the right in order to illuminate the street signs and pedestrians a little better. In Japan and the UK they flare to left. Which means you will more than likely blind oncoming traffic since the flare is to your left.

yes you can use them here but it is not legal for street useOriginally Posted by dj02
yes, you can use them here. Actually, they you can use them and I can bet 99.9% cops won't hassle you if you have an amber bulb... and have stock 55W Philips bulbs.
a cop will give you a ticket for HID's before he gives you a ticket for thoes. and if you have a amber bulb in there they wont know the diffrence. **** clear you oem ones and problem fixed and its free, its the same ****.
If the headlights have DOT or has an e with a circle around it then it's legal.
Damn this reminds i still need to go to court for my yellow headlights

the 04-05s have no amber cover but they have an amber bulb and they are dot...but there is an amber reflector at the side of the housing tho...i just changed my bulbs to LED turnsignal bulbs...i do belive the jdm ones arent legal because it has no glare shroud over the bulb which would be brighter but not DOT approved...i doubt cops will hastle u tho
Goto a CHP office have them check it for FREE and then goto the court to pay $10.

they are just cleared stock headlights. ugly IMO! i hate looking at a car with chrome blinging everywhere. i like color matched cars. but if you really want to know the answer to your question NO they are not. if you do not have a orange reflector then they are not legal

(b) Side-mounted turn signal lamps projecting a flashing amber light to either side may be used to supplement the front and rear turn signals. (6) A reflector meeting the requirements of and installed in accordance with Section 24611 shall be red or white, or both.
(c) All lamps and reflectors visible from the front, sides, or rear of a vehicle, except headlamps, may have any unlighted color, provided the emitted light from all lamps or reflected light from all reflectors complies with the required color. Taillamps, stoplamps, and turn signal lamps that are visible to the rear may be white when unlighted on vehicles manufactured before January 1, 1974.
Real Authetic JDM headlights flares to the left higher than to the right.
Which basically means, you will blind people on the other side of the road.
Problem can be fixed, but might well as spend some more and get valeo ece projectors to do retrofit.
They are not legal in U.S, But inspector probably won't notice any differences.
