WOOOHOOO...it finally came in

Im sooo excited...my passport 8500 radar detector has finally came in...looks all expensive and ish with like a leather box and everything...lol...but now..my question to everyone is..where is the best place to mount it...i was thinking maybe near the rear view mirror...any suggestions for those that have a detector

vinnie my boss has his under the steering column and it picks up just fine. its funny when i responded i knew YOU would call me on it, but i know people that have done it and it works fine.

yup and you want it leveled and make sure its not right behind your wipers because the metal wipers can distort the waves

yeah under the steering wheel colum is a bad place...cuz it obstructs the view..well thas according to the Escort website:

It's best to mount your detector where it has a clear field of view front and rear, and where you can see it without obstructing your own view of the road.

the place i have mine is right next to the hump in the dash where the gauge pod is, i just pushed it up agains that and it kinda blends in.

Make sure you program it so you can utilize the built in voltmeter. I have mine mounted in the middle of the front windshield just under the rearview mirror. You'll see on the top left there is small hump on the radar detector you want that to have a clear view of the rear window so it can pick up rear detection.
