JDM RHD 180sx or keep the civic?
wuddup guys...
i was approached by one of my friend's that's selling his JDM right hand drive nissan 180sx....
that car is really really clean and has about 56k miles on the motor... it's already got the blacktop sr20det motor in the car with a couple mods in it but overall the car is nice and it's really fast with potential of it being faster with a couple more mods.... the car is REGISTERED already so all i have to worry about is the smog papers and the registration fee every year on the car....
anyways... i'm torn between keeping my civic with about 6k left on payments or selling it and using the money that i get from my car to buy the 180sx which is going to cost about the same...
i'm unsure on how this would work cause if i sell the civic then i don't have a daily driver to get me around just in case the 180sx is getting work done to it...
PROS
1. the car has been my dream car ever since 8th grade... i've like the s14 body better but the 180sx rps13 body is freakin' clean too...
2. JDM and right hand drive would be a big show stopper... what can i say? i'm an attention ***** sometimes...
3. way better platfrom as far as building goes... my friend's at phase 2 took one of their red top motors and fully built the top end of the car and left the bottom end stock and the motor didn't blow up till it peaked at a lil under 600RWHP..... this is with the STOCK bottom end...
4. my friends are opening up a nissan & toyota shop in riverside so if i need any work done or help with something, they'll be able to help me out...
CONS
1. the car is a potential ticket magnet... although the cops down here in riverside are pretty chill about things like aftermarket stuff as long as you're not driving like an idiot...
2. i would have to pay the insurance on the car from now on and i'm guessing that the insurance would cost more on this car than it would be on the civic and i dunno if i can fit that into my budget...
3. smoging the car is gonna cost more because i'd have to "tip" a smog guy i know out here in so cal to pass the car...
4. i'm still in school and i plan on buying a new car right after i graduate to prepare for the business world... i don't role up to a job interview or meeting driving a 180sx... it might work out for me which would be cool if they were all JDM drift car fans like me...
i dunno... i'm seriously considering doing this... i just wanted to know what my fellow so cal brother's and sisters had to say about my lil venture...
thoughts? comments ?
