forgot to say...there was a comment about inside jobs and such...

A lot of stereo installation places have people who do the install then at some point go out and steal back the product and sell it to others. I've been a victim of it.

There is an Al & Ed's in Aliso Viejo and the guy who installed my cd player in my Acura Legend some eyars ago was seen breaking into my car and stealing my stereo....nothing came of it because he got rid of the evidence and had an aliby.

Also there is a place out here that makes a habit of doing such things...in my opinion I would much rather have the work done by myself rather then risk some punk who thinks it is kosher to steal my sh*t breaking into my vehicle....if you can do it yourself I say do it, or find someone you can trust. I wont have any shop do an install anymore.

^ My body shop is doing the install for everything. The main concern for us though is if the thieves come back and try to steal my **** again. I don't know what the insurence company would do than... Seriously if they want to they can get whatever they want. Just because we find one way to exploit the car doesnt mean they dont have another.
Alarms can only protect you so far as well..... And going out after your pager goes off isnt bright.
I just heard a story from my sister about a guy that did that and ended up getting shot 3 times in the chest. Getting shot over your car isnt worth it!
Thing really bothers me is that they broke into my car out of my drive way in a safe neighborhood. I don't know were else to park my car that would be safer....
I mean **** there is a street light across the road even, I still can't believe no one has come forth and said they havent seen anyone.
I guess got to just up the security and hope the fools dont atempt it again and if they do, they are dumb....not having the aid of an inside man anymore to help them.

I've also heard stories about alarm install places that program an extra control unit. Then someone justs turns off the alarm and steals the car. An alarm is really the best way to go for most situations. Needs to be louder than average to get attention. Just have it installed at a reputable place.
