Question Is the 30,000 mile service necessary?

Just wondering, its almost time for my 30,000 mile service and norm reeves is gonna be milking me for about 260 bucks after taxes ( ) ... my dad says its just a bunch of inspections that i can do myself and is not worth it .... just wondering if its worth having this service done ..

just so you know if something happens to your car, lets say your transmission goes out. it wont be covered under warrenty because you wont have any proff that you got it serviced.

Get a free brake check somewhere, change the tranny fluid yourself, and that's it! Oh and get an oil change. That's all they would do at the dealer. You can get it done for under $100 elsewhere if you don't know anything about cars.
