How many miles do you get?
Just wondering,
on avg., how many miles do u get till the Empty gas light shows up?
what percentage do you drive, highway:streets?
what gas station do u usually use? or you just choose randomly?
i just pulled over to get gas, and i noticed that i reached 390 miles, till i hit the empty gas light. i was like, WTF!? i usually get 365 miles per fill up on avg. also, i use chevron gas, 90% of the time.
for me:
365 mi avg.
75% highway, 25% streets
Chevron

380 miles
75% highway, 25% city
Chevron 87
Stock tires @ 36psi (Manuf. Rec. 34psi)
25% of the time with AC
Highway: 65-80mph
City: Speed Limit
When the light comes on, it technically means you have 2.1 gallons left (I think this is a standard on all cars). I usually fill 10-11 gallons when the light is on.
-----------------------------
Now here's something that I have learned and tried myself.
Driving 65mph on highways 380-440 miles
Driving 80mph on highways 330-360 miles
Driving with AC 10-15% less total mileage
Driving with Windows down on the freeway like an idiot 10% less total mileage
Shifting past 3000rpm on the city gives me pretty bad gas mileage (330-350). Must be VERY gentle on the pedal and try to shift around 2500rpm (Yea i'm patient... I have an auto)
-----------------------------
My suggestion if you want to improve your gas mileage:
-Be stingy with AC (Less engine stress)
-Inflate tires to proper recommended pressure or 1-2 psi over (Less rolling resistance)
-Drive 65mph (not 70) on the highways and USE CRUISE CONTROL.
-Try not to past 3000rpm while shifting on the city
-Don't warm up your car for 10 minutes because you are wasting gas. Do as the manual says, warm up your car for 1 minute to let the oil circulate and start driving very slowly... DO NOT JUST "TAKE OFF" with a cold engine because it won't last you long!
-And of course, learn to "roll" and not hold the gas and slam on the brakes.
What am I saying? GRANDMA STYLE DRIVING DRAMATICALLY IMPROVES GAS MILEAGE. Well, maybe some of us are impatient and can't take driving so slow, but hey if you want significant better gas mileage you should try this once or twice.
There I have spoken

Normally I get around 22mpg with a mix of city and highway miles. This is following almost every step above to improve mileage.
The most I've ever gotten was 30mpg, but that was with 99% highway miles using cruise the whole way and going 65 mph or less.
Car is basically stock, and I don't drive hard.

i think im getting about 250
1. i have big rims so more rotational mass...and my car is actually getting a few miles more than it shows because the rims are larger than stock. so 10 miles on stockies = 13 miles
2. i drive like a freaking maniac. i drive about 80 on the pasadena 110, 85 on the 134, and on the 60 i do about 90.
3. most of my driving is city driving
4. i stomp on the gas most of the time
5. i always redline.
6. i just don't car
i use 91, random gas stations... usually 76

You guys are so lucky. I get crap mileage.
Now that I've got a VAFCII, I can see when VTEC engages. All this was said in previous posts already, so I tried it. If you're going 65mph, VTEC stays off. As soon as you reach 70mph, the rpms get past a certain point and VTEC stays on. That's what uses more gas.

not that anyone might care but stepping up from my vic to a G is expensive in the gas department it used to take me about $18.00 to fill my vic up on average and I got about 250miles per tank dunno why probably because I drive hard alot. But now in my G it's like 280 -300 miles per fillup at $40.00 each which is about 17.5 gallons before I fill usually

Damn, you guys mostly get good mileage.
I barely am getting 300 on the whole tank.
What is this about 390 or 340? You guys are crazy.
Well, I guess maybe it's bc I have a heavy foot and do the slow stop and go in the traffic and 100
in no traffic.

The best way to test this is to do all highway miles going 65mph (so vtec doesn't engage). That will be your best mileage. Mine was 30mpg, which is terrible. The average is supposed to be 38. So something is causing the mileage, and it's not maintenance related for me at least.

I dont know what is wrong with your engines if they average below 300 miles! That's way below the advertised city MPG.
My recommendation is that you all go put the right amount of air pressure in all tires. You'll be amazed by the difference...
You'll probably have to pay 50 cents to put in air, but it will give you more than 50 cents worth of miles!
