It's still 100% better to have one then to NOT have one. In my last car I had 4 12" fosgate H2's (when they first came out) lol each set powered by a US amp. and I used a ppi amp for the highs. the drain was enough to stall the car before a cap. lol I added 2 caps and everything was fine. had that setup for about a year without changing stock batt or killing alternator.
but hey as long as it works now. lol
