little bad *** set me back almost a G after food, leash, colar, crate, treats, toys and activating his microchip......dont know if he will make the next meet....probly the one after though
$1G...not too bad...he is pretty cute, should offset his owners looks...hahaha j/k (i don't even know what you look like)....the pup that I want is gonna run me in the same price range and I think there are even less breeders in AZ for mine than yours...I'm looking to get a Belgian Tervuren, but I'm not sure I can afford one with the house and all...
Good luck with the new pup...if you need any advice for training/food/housebreaking/socializaton/anything else let me know...my mom used to be a breeder/handler and I worked in a kennel for 3.5 years so if you need any advice or have any questions hit me up.

1. Clipping Nails
From the beginning, handle your dog´s feet, toes and nails. Make this handling enjoyable, and give your dog a treat for behaving well. This way the dog is used to being handled and toenail clipping will not be so traumatic. This is also good if your dog injures a paw.

2. Dog Litter
Small dogs have small bladders and this fact sometimes makes housetraining a small dog difficult. If you own a small breed and are having difficulty housetraining you may want to consider using a dog litter box. Dog litter boxes offer a convenient option for dogs who need a mid-day bathroom break. You´ll find a link to quality dog litter kits (including training manual) on my
Bio Page.

3. Dangerous Bones
Cooked chicken, turkey and other bird bones can be fatal to a dog, so never give them as chew toys. These bones are hollow, and when chewed they splinter into sharp fragments which can then pierce your dog´s intestinal lining. This can be very difficult to treat. Bones and Raw Food (BARF) advocates say that poultry bones are safe if given raw, as they do not splinter readily.

4. Control Puppy Chewing
If you catch your pup in the act of chewing anything but his own toy, remove the object and replace it with an acceptable chew toy. If your pup then chews on his toy, praise him. Always reinforce desired behavior with praise.

5. Be Clear and Consistent
The fundamental rule of dog training is to be clear and consistent in the words you use for commands and in your rules for appropriate behavior. Without this, your dog is likely to be confused and misbehave.

6. Treating Ear Infections
If your dog is diagnosed with ear mites or an ear infection it is very important to complete treatment. Even if your dog appears recovered, continue medication on the schedule recommended by your veterinarian. Discontinuing medication before completing treatment contributes to the creation of resistant infections. This increases the possibility that the infection will recur and may require stronger medications given for a longer duration.

7. Litter Training - Part 1
Litter training is a wonderful option for puppies and small breeds who simply do not have the bladder capacity of larger dogs. It´s also far better than the old paper training method, which often confused puppies. PLUS, you can take a litter box with you on vacations, so you won´t have to worry about your dog refusing to relieve himself in a parking lot.

8. Owners, watch those
dog kisses!

9. A Fitting Collar
To find the correct size collar for your dog, add two inches to his neck measurement. When fitting the collar on your dog you should be able to slide two fingers under it to ensure that it is not too tight.

11. Pups Need
Attention, Stability
Consider what´s going on in your life before buying a puppy. If you are getting married, divorcing, starting a new job or having a baby, don´t get a puppy just now. Young dogs need a stable environment and lots of attention. Wait until you can provide that.

12. Shampoo Alternative
Some dog owners and their dogs are allergic to chemical-based shampoos. A safe and effective alternative is Murphy´s Oil Soap. This all-natural product is non-drying to the skin and does not leave that "wet dog smell" noticed after use of many shampoos.

13. Avoid Table Scraps
Don´t routinely give your dog table scraps as this upsets their nutritional balance. Your best bet, unless you educate yourself in depth about dogs´ nutritional needs, is to stick with dog food. Treats are for learning tricks!

14. Consider Purebred
Dog Rescue
When considering dog adoption, give serious thought to contacting a purebred dog rescue organization. Most such groups evaluate the health and temperament of the rescued dogs and work to prepare them for new homes. Find a great dog, give a dog a new life.

Get involved in an activity or sport with you dog and you´ll find multiple benefits, the most important being a stronger bond between you and your dog.
