I got yelled at
I got yelled at (PMed) by a mod in another forum for calling some guy a silly Canadian.

Please stop insulting other people's nationalities. Thanks for your cooperation!
... and FYI, the owner of this site is Canadian.
I said:
Thanks. Your PM helped me understand that people have feelings. Furthermore, humor can be concieved as an insultation when people monitoring the forums run out of people who really violate terms of decency. First post was a play on nationality. Second post was a play on words. Its a joke. Oh, and Derek being Canandian: He can call me a silly American all he wants. I don't get offended by humor. Not to take your PM way too seriously, but come on. Was a PM really neccesary?
Here, I'll make it all better and hand you a beer.

This has nothing to do with my running out of items to moderate. I never chose to be a moderator, but am doing so as a favor to a former moderator who asked me to become one to lighten his load. The less work I have to do on this site, the better.
Sure it was a joke ... I understand that. But in the context of that post, it was such a feeble attempt at humor on your part, that surely you can understand if he took it as an insult.
What may be inoffensive to some, may be offensive to others. In light of 9/11, and what's happened since, it was decided waaay before you joined this site that bashing of any nationality would not be tolerated on this site, regardless of whether or not it is in jest, and regardless of how minor it is.
I'm very happy for you that you won't get offended if someone insults your country or your background. But what applies to you does not necessarily apply to everybody else.
And yes, a PM is necessary. It's what we're asked to do as moderators. If you have a problem with that, you are more than welcome to bring this issue up with any of the SuperModerators, or Derek himself.
Thanks again for your understanding.
