so i get a call from Bell Honda and they ask me if i would like to sell them my civic because they "are running low on used 2001 civics".

so im thinking wtf? why would they wanna buy back my car.
i dont have to buy a new car from them either.


what do you guys think?

Dang yeah I haven't liked Bell honda all that much, yeah I hate their service department especially, talk about bend over uggg. Yeah I only went there because they let me drive most of the cars on their lot.

Bell Honda....
- They could really care less that I was looking at their cars, it was like "hey there is some kid who just wants to drive our cars, why do we waste our time"

- Treated me like a fricken king. Walked up was looking at a Type-S, the guy was just like wanna take it for a drive, DUH, so he hands me the keys says "Have fun, we'll see you when you get back, and remember there is no rev-limiter like on Hondas, so just be careful with your shifts" Now that impressed me and that is hard to do, since I have been around dealerships my whole life, as dad is a parts manager.

this whole thing is just to gain profits on a current slow market...


they want to get you into a newer car in order to reduce their new-car-inventory
(they might just buy your old car back without you purchasing something new...but i doubt it)

then once they sell your old car...they will boost their pre-owned-sales as well

i purchased from Bell Honda just after 9/11...they were so willing to sell cars that they just about wouldnt let me leave the lot without purchasing something

I got the call from bell honda, didnt bother calling back because I new what they wanted. I bought my car from the fleet department over there and they basically bent over backwards for me.

UPDATE:

so ya they call me a couple of night later, and they said that i actually have to buy another car from them in order for them to buy mine a market cost.

so i basically told them to suck it and i will never buy another car from bell honda again, and 5 mins later a manager calls up wondering why i wont buy from bell honda.

so i told him
"because your service dept is the worst, and your employees are liars"


that shut him up.

Yeah, that is a total marketing ploy...

"We're running out of 2001s (since your car is not upside down anymore), we'll buy it back for market value"

Real deal is: They will TELL you they are buying it back for retail...what they are really going to show is them buying it for book and selling a new Civic at Dealer Holdback. Bumps their volume discount from Honda, you are upside down in a virtually identical car, and they laugh all the way to the bank.

I am pissed at Bell Honda...or I should say at myself for allowing them to get me like they did. Ah well. All I can say is: $160 for a 10k mile maint? They change the oil and rotate the tires! F*%&#@s!!!
