Where to get tints installed (and how dark)
Where to get tints installed (and how dark)
I want to get tints for my '04 EX Coupe. The dealer will do it for $199. Is the best place to go the dealer? Or are there better places to go that will do it cheaper?
I've never put tints on a car - I've had cars with tints already installed but thats it. I am unfamiliar with the different levels of tint and the colors you can get and all that.
My car is silver (has a slight blue shade to it). What color of tint would you recommend? Should I get the tints that are dark blue, or should I just get the "smoke" kind? Also, I want to get tints that are fairly dark, but not totally blacked out or anything like that. I live in Florida, am unsure what the laws are here. Should I get a 10% tint, or somewhere close to that (forgive me if my terminology is off).
Do people get different tint levels on different windows? Like, should the door windows be lighter than the back windows? And how do you do the windshield. Because I thought you couldn't really tint the windshield. Anyway, I am new to this so if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

I got mine done at a shop for 100 cash. i got 20% all around and it looks great i think - just dark enough, no windshield strip either but thats up to you. oh yeah, legal on the sides is 28%, thats why the shop requires cash if you get them darker than the legal limit. stay away from the reflective silver and blue stuff, the cops wont get you for 15-20%, but those others are harassment magnets.
if my car was silver id get dark as i can. its considered illegal, not sure the numbers, but ive never personally heard of anyone gettin any trouble for their illegal tints..because its florida...hot/sun. legally with the numbers, ur front windows will be lighter than ur back windows. when u tint the windshield its just going to be the top strip, u dont wanna get the whole windshield tinted its dum, causes glare and harder to see out

Where do you live? I know a place back home that did a great job on my civic when I had her for i think 100-or so. If you get it too dark and the cops wanna be an *** about it they can give you a ticket and tell you to take that tint off bc it's illegal but a lot of times i dont think they would pull you over specifically for that.
theres a guy up here in lake mary that did mine for $119 cash, real reputable, u have to pay cash for 5% and thats what i got (*since its illegal) but he will cover you if anything goes wrong, and if u dont want to go that dark he does offer lifetime warranty as well for the lighter and its like 110 i'll find his card and post his name and address up here when i find it.

don't get your tint done from the dealer. usually the dealer goes for the cheapest tint and cheapest place with decent quality, it's like a buffet. when you find a shop, look at some of their previous work, look closely to the edges of the tint and make sure they didn't cut into it.
a tint job around here by one of the best tinter i know cost about 160. i got 5% on all side windows now, and 15% in the rear. nice and dark, hid lights up the night. only bad thing is you'd have to drive slower around dark turns and such. i am usually going super slow in dark corners and such. highway is no problem.

No actually they do that. I had a friend do it because it creates 2.5% which they don't make.
