Reminder NOT to get Fiberglass kits..

Mom was calling me like for 5 days straight.. Asking me why I have not visited for 2 weeks.. "Mom, I'm busy at work but I'll visit tomorrow" I state.. While I was talking to my mom that day, she had said something along the lines of hurricane season, flooding and construction right outside the house. I wasn't paying too much attention but now.. I wish I had... The city had just installed a drainage basin right outside my former parking lot..

Sooo, I'm driving down my parents block.. I say to myself.."Man, the streetlight right outside my house must be busted.." It was dark people.. really dark..

I pull into my house slowly.. you know, the " dam, i have a bodykit, slow, neutral glide".. so the ride is gliding in and then.. CrAcK!!!! My dam bumper hits the unfinish surface of this stupid basin... The basin was unfinished and the city had not put any barricades or tape around this thing!!! Now my bumper has about 300 dollars damage to it.. (See pics below)

I curse the hell out of the city.. then I curse the hell out of the drainage basin.. then i curse the hell out of the light pole for having a blown bulb..

To make a long story short.. I called the city and they are paying for the damages.. Bodyshop quoted me 460 for repairs.. that is what the city is giving me. The body shop threw in an extra 160 bucks for my troubles..

So the morals of the story are..

Be aware of your surroundings.. Drainage basins are known to pop up anywhere overnight..

Watch out for blown street lights.. The darkness can conceal many evils..

and

Help the city with their budget for next year by overcharging them.. They spend 200 dollars on ordinary hammers, why not spend some of that on me?

Should have gotten HID and you would see it. That's a big drainage basin! At least they're paying for repairs.

Your name is Tara, no?

Well, this is what it looks like here in South Florida atleast.. In georgia they are a bit different.. but they are the same in missouri.. Maybe they are designed in reference to the amount of rain or drainage needed? I dunno..

I know how you feel man.. My first car.. a 97 altima.. I did all the bodywork on it..except the paint.. haven't mastered that yet. But I got really tired of bodywork taking months..lol.. so I just have the shop do it now. Plus, I don't know much on repairing fiberglass after damage like that..
