Hid
Before I start, black or anyone plz dont move this thread. I dont really want to put it anywhere but here b/c i will get flamed. With that said here go the dumb questions. I really want to get some HIDs in my civic, preferably Catz, because I think they are the best.. but i dont really know lol. I was wondering about ussing them in stock headlights, or like the tyc projectors. I wanted black headlights, kinda smoked but i dunno. I mean yes is earched but i really dont understand the 5 million hid threads. If anyone around here has done the hid retro or swap can you help me out. I'd really like to keep my stock headlgihts and smoke them to gunmetal and then put hid's in them... but feel free to give me some info in lamens terms.... HIDs are just to irresistable.
Thx guys! Brad

you know i just saw on HIDtech.com they have a 2002 civic setup. do you guys think if i buy those exact parts ill be ok.. and I'll just ba able to smoke the headlights? im soo confused.... and also if i smoke the headlights (tint) will it affect brightness?
I've done the swap. I've got the Catz 4300K High/Lows in my stock housing and it produces an excellent beam pattern and very little glare. I've seen my car coming down the road and you could not tell the difference from lets say a TL.

Yeah I love them. What I really want is like gunmetal versions of the stock headlights.. but I want them to work good. I kinda like the TYC projectors, but I heard if you put HID in those it will suck. I really want gunmetal headlights with HID in them that look/work almost like stock hid's
EDIT: Islan, do you think you could post some pics and stuff about yuors. If I can use my stock headlights with those catz I would.. but I reall want gunmetal. Joey do your lights work as good as the oem ones becaue I saw some gunmetal ones on that site you bought them from.

I know ID, I'm as old school as yourself sir.
Brad: I don't think TYC's can handle the heat output of HID's.. For some reason it didn't feel nor look like the same material as the stock light.. It would look damn nice though..
From what I know about installing HID's on our cars is simple.
Theoretically you can pretty much get any kit that fits the H4 bulb, the only thing you would need to swap is the OEM bulb housing to the HID bulb itself. It worked on a test fit on a 00 Si , so I'd imagine it would work for ours as well.

Yeah. I looked at that xenondepot place, and they have a 4300k kit that is from Phillips, a very reputable company. It says they have an H4 version. So I'm think I'm gonna get the headlights like Joey has, and then put that HID kit in. I mean if it's made for an H4 equuipd headlight, it's probably goona work.... at least I hope.... Thx black
