my girl gotta 2001 mustang base v6 convertible and she always says she can beat me in a race! i gotta 02 lx 5 spd... i doubt we will ever have a chance to race but i just want to know who would probably win. i always drive her car and it is quick as hell! well not as hell, but is quick, i know i can take her off the line cuase of my 5 spd and hers is convertible, which is more weight, but i believe she will catch up and take me, anybody ever race a stang v6 auto with their 5 spd?

my old stang was a turd. It was an auto V6 coupe. never went to a track but most times i read were mid 16 stock. it will probly be close depending on your launch...all she has to do is mash the gas.

yes its true the auto v6s are t3h sl0w can will get romped on by a manual vic even in stock form (with a really good driver). other than that you wont win w/o more stuff than just boltons.

The Stang has a slight advantage....But a V8 would own you.

If you have I/H/E it will help out.

I have a 2001 lx with intake and I schooled a 99 mustang v6 auto hard top. You just need to be a decent driver and you can beat most punks out there.

The Civic will definitely win. If any of you know nything about convertibles, they are a GOOD deal heavier than their hardtop counterparts due to extra structural reinforcements and the hardware that goes with the convertible mechanisms etc.. often 1 to 2 seconds slower in the quarter mile.

A 5 speed hardtop V6 stang will beat you hands down...typically they run low low 15's (high 14's in some cases) STOCK....the Stang will definately catch up (assuming it's an auto...if it's a stick your done for)

i race my sister's 5speed stang before w/ my other friend driving it... i got her off the line and up till around the higher gears is when she started catching up and all.. but that was when my car was stock w/ just intake. i figure u would probably win(but not by much), and it all depends on how far u guys race. 1/4 mile 1/8 mile, etc...

Yea, i have a friend (Beau, pronounced Bo for all you northern people) has a '67 Shelby GT 350 with a 351. Hes happy to race the imports but he mainly sticks to embarrassing twin turbo supras and 300 Z's.

Even if you beat Beau, my other mustang loving friend (whom i met through Beau) has a heavily modified and recently supercharged 2000 mustang GT putting out just over 500 wheel horsepower.
