Ticket Help
I got pulled over for an illegal turn (I didn't see the sign, so it was my fault). Anyways, I called the court today to find out what the fine was. It was $230!!! So, I asked what the charges were and the lady said Illegal Turn and Window Tint. My windows have never been tinted!!!!! There is absolutely no tint on my car. I think he might have checked the wrong box. What a moron. Anyways, I'm pissed off now because I have to go to court over this stupid ticket. Anyone know if I can get the whole ticket dismissed? Or, should I find some way to prove that I have never had window tints? The only thing on my window is one of those clear college static stickers. Sorry if that didn't make sense, I've had a terrible week and I'm kinda scatterbrained at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
PS. The trooper also wrote that my race was White. I'm definately asian...

If any information on a ticket is incorrect they usually throw the whole thing out, and I would think something that big would be a mistake. Otherwise I would argue an incomprehensive cop. BTW, in Iowa I have been told that the factory tint is illegal.....hahaha.....They just wanna rip you for money cause they think they can.

Ignorance for the law is no excuse in the eyes of the court. So because you didn't see is probably not going to hold up.
She the cop that you have no tint on your car and he will drop that part of the ticket. Plead guilty for the illegal turn and your find will be reduced.
If you plead not guilty and are found guilty, you will have to pay the full fine.
If the sign was hidden by a tree or some other obstruction. Take a picture of the intersection showing the obstruction (use your photshop skills....heheehe). Show the picture to the judge, plead not guilty and get everything thrown out.

yeah I would bring it for incorrect information. If that doesn't work, defend it in court. If you plead guilty to the U turn charge and not guilty to the tint charge then they will probably still fine you. You won't get points if the judge is nice.

Here's a scan of the Violations portion of my ticket. As you can see, he wrote in Illegal Turn but checked the Window Tint box. Is there anyway I can claim that I was not cited for the Illegal Turn because the box is not checked? Any suggestions?
PS. I went out this afternoon and took pictures of my car to prove I don't have a tint.
EDIT: BTW, I'm not reading it wrong. The box on the right of each offense corresponds to the charge to its left. I could have scanned the whole section, but it was too big.

just take the ticket to court and plea your case of no tint, and pled guilty to the illegal turn. thats what your gonna have to do. he prolly just checked the wrong box. call them and ask for sure though. the number to THP is 594-5793

get the whole ticket thrown out. I got a ticket in cali for speeding (85 in a 65) and the cop put the wrong phone number down for the court. He put 5 numbers in the last part.
(XXX) YYY - ZZZZZ
It took me half an hour to find the real court's number, and when I called them up they told me that there was no such citation. I think the bogus phone number invalidated the whole ticket. I called back 3 times over the next 2 months and the ticket never showed up in their computer.
He checked tint and you didn't have tint. The citation won't hold up in court. You got lucky.

It's all going to depend on the judge. He can rule just about any way he wants to. So just be nice and you'll get the best treatment you can, if the judge isn't a hardass.
BTW: In some states the trooper who issued the ticket must appear in court. If he's not there, you stand a better chance of getting it thrown out.
