Me vs Modded RX-7 TT, WRX, LS1 Camaro SS
Bleh. I'm bored. Guess I'll post a few race stories. Yesterday while driving home on the highway, I see a nice black 3rd gen RX-7. Looked like it was an R1 or R2 model. Little dirty, but most of the cars on the road were still suffering from the dirt and grime that gets kicked up onto your car after it rains. Anyway, we exit the freeway together and get on yet another freeway (no highway interchange, bah). So while we're merging onto the new freeway, he punches it BRAAAAAAAP! and gets in front of me. Sounded pretty healthy to me. Not sure what kind of mods he had, but from the way it moved, probably BPU -- intake, exhaust at least. As soon as the freeway opened up, I got over into the middle lane to try to get next to him and see if he wanted to play. He was of course one step ahead of me and punched it just as soon as I signaled to change lanes. I then dropped it into 3rd and proceeded to pedal past him and had about 2 lengths on him by the top of 4th gear. I slowed back down to the speed limit, but he wouldn't come back up. Oh well.
Second race happened tonight on my way to meet some friends for dinner. This nice looking WRX was merging onto the freeway along with me. It was that electric blue color, lowered, with exhaust and ProDrive bronze rims. He was on my *** from the get go, but I didn't really notice it until I looked up in my rearview and saw him right there in my trunk. At that point, we were in 2nd gear, merging onto the same freeway that I had previously raced that RX-7 on. So I dropped the hammer and got a bunch of wheelspin, and was easily pulling the WRX. I wasn't sure if he was actually racing until I let off at the top of 3rd and he comes charging forward. But before he could do a ricer flyby, I got back in it and put some more land between us. We pulled over and talked... he was pretty cool. Wasn't sure of his mods. Didn't ask, didn't really care. Not like it would have mattered.
Last race was with an LS1 Camaro SS coming back from dinner. This time it was on a different freeway
I saw him up about 100yards ahead of me, and I just kinda cruised past him doing 70mph or something. He must have been trolling because he goosed it and got next to me right after I passed him. Anyway, we both knew what was happening next, so I dropped it into 3rd gear, hovering right at about 6k RPM (that's when my turbo fully comes into boost) ready for him to make some kind of move. Sure enough, I see his car kinda squat and move out. So I returned the favor and walked him by about the same pace as I did with the RX-7. We shut down in 4th gear and exchanged thumb-ups
This was all done on a stock bottom end LS (non-VTEC) motor with turbo, swapped into a '98 Civic DX hatch. Car is completely untuned except for a base map that gets the car running, but doesn't make much power...

Rep Power: 339 Wow, cheesefrog is here! Hey dude, watching your EK hatch go against that Viper, I had 2 questions, how come your rear brakes were glowing before braking? and does your car have a catalytic converter? Kinda sounds like you dont

Rep Power: 0 The reason why my rear brakes were glowing during the race is because I had my parking brake on. It didn't really make much of a difference either way -- Albert would still have pulled on me, even if I had the eBrake down. And I do have a catalytic converter, but it wasn't being used during the race.

Rep Power: 0 Gosh, relax it's just a Civic :P Thanks for the props tho. Uhm, any other vids. Hmm lemme check real quick. Ok here's another one of me vs heads/cam LS1 Camaro.. The Camaro traps in the low 120mph's in the 1/4. The video was shot from the passenger in the LS1. We go from a 3rd gear punch, and I'm completely at the wrong RPM and had to wait for my turbo to spool. That was strike 1. Once my turbo spooled, my tires started spinning and I didn't really go anywhere. In the video you can see my car kinda pause shortly after me and the Camaro left the rest of the traffic. It took a moment for me to catch traction. That was strike 2. Fortunately all went well after that. Tires finally hooked and I reeled the Camaro in and passed him somewhere at about 140mph at the top of 4th gear. Luckily there was no strike 3.
Behind the white Camaro (visible at the very start of the video, LT1, basic bolt ons, 125 shot) there was a BPU+ TT Supra and another bolt on LS1. They couldn't catch up til we let off.
